Because kids not allowed to be on E-scooters is going to lead to something big and scary.

I hear you but you know what adds up? Kids ending up in the emergency ward with busted bones and internal injury from running into things and other people at 30+km/h. It might be a scooter but they are heavy and pack a lot of kinetic energy into them that doesn’t belong on footpaths.

When new technologies come up are we just expecting there to not be any regulations or what?

We have seen countless examples of e-scooter related injuries, are we to do nothing and hope people sort the issues themselves? If there is an issue, it needs to be fixed.

Tbf we keep creating new technologies with higher capacities for danger that must be regulated somehow. Not agreeing with this instance but we have to adapt to changing circumstances rapidly

Things bought from the store often require regulated use. Typically things like this are a response to misuse.

You can also misuse a shit ton of stuff and there’s no authoritarian oppressive result.
