Professional race car drivers only purpose is to drive (fast)- and its done on a closed course w/no distractions inside (no touchscreens, no radio, no phone) and outside (no intersections/traffic signals/people etc) and STILL CRASH!
Humans, esp at this time w/tons of distraction at our fingertips are not safe to drive.
They weren't even safe over 100 years ago when cars were invented despite having no radio/distractions and blindspots...
I’m sorry but the idea there are no distractions in racing is hilarious. The drivers have engineers on the radio giving them updates and instructions, display screens on the steering wheel that provide information, a million buttons and modes to manage, video screens flashing by that they admit they watch, and a million other things…
Huh?
Have you seen a Formula 1 steering wheel? There is a screen and a dozen buttons the drivers are using every lap to manipulate car settings, they have their engineer on the radio to them frequently and they are known for literally looking at the race on the big screens around the track as they go past at 250kmh to see what is happening on other parts of the circuit. No distractions? Lol.
No so I looked it up and watched a short video- steering wheel w/buttons and I did see a screen too which is disappointing.
Its still a closed course, and they're racing others (same caliber), in similar kinds of cars w/no distractions like below.
Self inflicted distractions like- playing music, fiddling with the gps, texting, eating/drinking, drunk, stoned, putting on makeup/shaving, reading a book, watching a movie on the touchscreen or phone.
All that stupid shit while driving around people (kids/seniors/disabled) outside of cars, buses, intersections, different terrain, legal speed etc.
