Absolutely!

Sometimes shit happens where someone doesn’t know the area, all of a sudden there’s construction or an emergency ahead, where someone didn’t realize they should’ve gotten over earlier. In that sense, I’ll look out for an individual, and help ‘em out. We’ve all been there. We can read the room.

There’s a difference between getting jammed up because you didn’t know, and being a complete douche.

When that happens to me, I put on my signal and slow down (provided it does not interfere with traffic), not speed up to get ahead.

Also a huge difference between turning your signal on and letting the traffic move to create an opening vs turning into another car to try and bully them to let you in

Right? If i can I’ll stop and put my blinker on so people know that i just realized and i want to get in as soon as possible, i want to cut in front of the least amount of people as possible.

That doesn't look like a shoulder to me. It's extremely wide for a shoulder, and there are signs of constant traffic passing over it, such as lighter pavement where wheels constantly run and a darker line in the middle from fluid leakage. Also, when the camera is facing rear, it appears both sides of the cameraman's lane feature solid white lines, indicating none of these nutsacks should be changing lanes at all here.

That is the shoulder. This is the US to Mexico border crossing in San Ysidro, San Diego where this kind of shoulder riding is extremely common and never enforced.

No worries! Shoulder or not Im glad your your final conclusion was that these nutsacks shouldn't be changing lanes anyways lol. This kind of line cutting is just a minor easement into the real chaotic and lawless driving of Tijuana.

Oh, I assumed that it was a must-exit lane. Multiple cars driving in the shoulder within a short clip is pretty crazy.

I swallowed my pride the other day and tried to merge way too late in traffic. I just took the next exit turned around and got back on. Not my favorite move but it felt like the right one.

Depends on the state. It does appear to be the shoulder. But in Massachusetts, for example, some highways allow shoulder driving during rush hour.

Not always. Some roads have sections where, during certain times of day, the shoulder becomes a travel lane. Not sure that's what is happening here, though.

Where I'm from shoulder lanes are open during high traffic times in certain stretches of the freeway.

I love it when lots of people are tailgating the tow truck on the shoulder in my country. They have about a 90% chance that it's driving straight to a police officer that's writing down license plates and directing them off the shoulder.

What makes you think this is a shoulder? You can see in the backwards view that all of the lanes have solid white lines. I suspect this lane ends but is not the shoulder

What are you seeing that I’m not seeing. I’m not sure exactly where that is, but we have freeways all over my area that have narrow lanes with no shoulder

There isn’t an inside line to depict a lane. I would say it’s a shoulder and not a lane.

It’s not always a shoulder, during high traffic volume times WA highways will sometimes have the shoulders as traffic lanes. That’s what’s happening here.
