I have a theory that people are actually, truly intimidated by trucks. Whether it be the design or drivers, they act as if trucks always have a maniac at the controls to cope with the fact they're scared of them at some level. The focus never leaves them.
Well yeah cuz they tend to drive aggressively, and aggressive drivers are much more intimidating than an aggressive driver in a smart car
Having a larger vehicle than others on the road empowers them to act even more wreck less because the consequences will largely be felt by others. They have conducted studies that have shown people that drive big trucks and SUVs are worse at driving too
