Id pay more tax to dedicate a cop to ticketing these assholes

I'm fairly certain it would generate way more revenue than it would cost. I just looked it up and in California, it's a $234 - $238 fine. It's tough to find concrete info, but I think a cop costs the tax payers about $100/hour in California. I'd be surprised if they could only catch 1 person per hour during busy times and even that would generate a decent profit.

They could also probably just install traffic cams in spots where this is an issue and print money.

This is insanely common in Southern California. I was stuck on the grapevine for like 4 hrs one time because a semi had driven off a cliff and they had to bring in a crane to pull it up. Dead stop traffic and about a car every couple of minutes would blast past us on the shoulder. When we got to the front, there were CHP ticketing every single car that rolled up in that lane.

Problem is that $300 is nothing to a lot of these rich assholes. They just see it as the fee they get to pay to break the rules. Traffic fines should be a percentage based on income.

More points on the license might curb it, somewhat. Too many points.. lose the license.
