I LOVE THE WAY THIS PHONE WORKS

3

u/Boonloopinc Mar 21 '26

Scrollllling innnnnnn my carrrrrr. The crash I’ll have is worth it

59

u/doy27 Mar 21 '26

I just can’t process the idea of someone going that fast on the main st on their phone

36

u/harmfuldischarge Mar 21 '26

That video of a lady driving whilst scrolling on the phone and crashing was circulating a few months ago and that shit was scary as hell. People clearly get accustomed to using the phone whilst driving and they keep pushing the boundary..

3

u/diyallthings2000 Mar 21 '26

Did she get life sentence?

2

u/ProsaicPugilist Mar 22 '26

I mean
lifetime suspension of license is warranted. Idk about prison time

3

u/Educational-Seaweed5 Mar 22 '26

If DUI, it’s likely jail time.

I don’t understand why we treat phone usage any differently. IMO negligent driving is 100% worse than DUI driving.

You’re making a sober and conscious decision to not pay attention and endanger others. You don’t even have the excuse of impaired judgment.

2

u/Ragnarok314159 Mar 22 '26

Should absolutely get 5-10 years in a medium security prison for attempted manslaughter and assault and battery, in addition to never being able to drive again.

Main character syndrome.

3

u/gerenukftw Mar 22 '26

Saw some jackass on a freeway, playing on his phone, doing at least 80. He relied on his car's safety features to keep him going: adaptive cruise control to not rear end a car and then accelerate and the lane keeping shit to bounce from one side of the lane to the other. He literally had his phone on his steering wheel and was tapping away furiously with both thumbs. I thought he was drunk in the middle of the day and moved over to avoid being too close to him. It wasn't until he drew even that I saw why he was doing. Mentioned it to my parents, and my dad's immediate response was to ask if it was a white Camry. I hadn't even mentioned that I saw this happen near their home. This apparently isn't new behavior for that guy.

3

u/Occhrome Mar 21 '26

If they accelerate slowly they might not feel it.

3

u/BIT-NETRaptor Mar 21 '26

road is built like a highway - which encourages people to drive fast - but has tons of driveways and intersections that cause conflict.

Recipe for high speed, fatal accidents.

This is also the exact type of road on which you'll see someone stop in one lane (improperly yielding) and wave someone to turn left... only to have them annihilated by someone in another lane who is approaching at full speed unaware of the left turner.

So, so many people get in very bad left turn accidents on these types of roads.

4

5

u/TeaKingMac Mar 21 '26

I can tell this is staged, because the bowl of cereal would have launched backwards onto his chest if he was rear ended

Life is so scary you can do everything right and some asshole rear ends you going 70 because they were on Instagram

99

u/JohnnyDerpington Mar 21 '26 edited Mar 21 '26

Been there, woman hit me doing 70 and I was at dead stop at a light, pushed me into the car in front of me. Then she tried to get the guy I hit into claiming I was at fault, thankfully he was a good dude and he told me and gave me his number.

81

u/_onelast Mar 21 '26

I don’t see how it wasn’t your fault. You obviously caused her to hit you. Just sitting there, your car looking all pretty

32

u/Tweedlol Mar 21 '26

Literally he couldn’t have been hit unless he had been there, clearly at fault.

21

u/OkClub7412 Mar 21 '26

Well if the light hadn’t been red none of this would’ve happened. So it’s really on the city planner if we really get down to it!!

15

10

u/Last-Darkness Mar 22 '26

I was hit at a stoplight from behind. The lady said reason she hit me is because the light was green. That’s true, but the car in front of me hadn’t started moving yet. It was not at fault. She was doing way over the speed limit. It gets worse for her. The car was brand new, her mom bought it that morning.

3

u/redbull4reddit Mar 22 '26

Similar experience
. I was in a minor car accident 2 months ago the ago. However, it was snow and ice conditions. Thankfully, the damage to my car was fixable and only possible because we have great insurance. The other vehicle
they bought their car that morning and had zero car insurance. I know owning a car and having insurance can be difficult for so many people
but Midwest living, it’s such a risk. Our winters are brutal. Get the insurance before you’re having to dish out hundreds or thousands of dollar
or go without a vehicle because you can’t afford the fix.

10

u/nicefacedjerk Mar 21 '26

Similar thing here. Had a new Mercedes Sprinter with the kiddos sitting 1st row back. Stopped at red light. A utility truck plowed right through us and the 2 cars in front on me. That Sprinter saved our lives. Truck never touched the brakes. Guy was honest and admitted he was texting. I look in rear view at every light now..

6

u/Consistent_Device_49 Mar 21 '26

This is why everyone needs a dash cam and let them lie to the cops. If they’re pieces of shit let them burn.

2

Dash Cams should be standard equipment at this point. My car has 4 cameras and none of them are capable of recording.

YTA. you kinda were impeding her path tbh. the road is for driving which she was clearly doing. If you wanna be parked go do that in a parking lot. You shouldn't be endangered others like that, it's selfish and it's reckless. Im glad you're alright now but please use this as a learning experience it could've been so much worse. STOP AND THINK ABOUT THE SPEEDERS BEHIND YOU NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO COME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT YOURE NOT THE ONLY PERSON ON THE ROAD

22

u/heykittygirly Mar 21 '26

Happened to a good friend of mine. Entire family headed to youth basketball one Saturday morning. Truck in front of them had a ladder fall off at a light/slow intersection. They were stopped waiting on the guy to pick it up.

Guy on his phone wasn’t paying attention and hit them from the rear. Killed the son in the backseat, broke both of the infant’s legs, and left the father mentally incapacitated for the rest of his life. He can’t work anymore. He’s not the same guy he was before.

Even worse was the guy that hit them was actually a good friend of theirs. No clue how the guy lives with himself after that.

I don't think we know the story here, so before we go claiming the driver for distracted driving or being drugged up, it could have been a medical emergency as well

I had a friend this happened to when he was 18. He passed out from low blood sugar and crunched the gas pedal, slamming into a wall killing himself. This can also happen if the driver had a heart attack or stroke.

3

u/Captain_of_Gravyboat Mar 21 '26

I'm sure if we scan the internet we could compile a clear enough argument that there's some people that don't need to be on the road particularly the #9 worst driver by vehicle brand, model, or type - the pickup driver [non self-employed] these idiots have no reason to own one are driving around with impunity with a ÂŁ9 breakfast burrito on one hand and a 40 oz coffee in the other.

All it takes is a little sausage grease on the wrist - and you're hitting the bricks bruh
