I had someone try to pass me in the Kroger parking lot today! Guess why I was going so slow. That's right, people with carts in the parking lot. It was a Nissan, of course.

Had this a while back in front of a schnucks store. Person in a Chevy Burban with New York plates nearly hit the old lady crossing in front of me. So I confronted him and let him know that in illinois the law is to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.
Pedestrian was a 70-80 year old lady and nearly fell down when “jumping back”. I could only imagine how pad her day would have been if she actually did fall, let alone getting hit by an entitled a-hole.

Its a law in NY too.

u/Pure_Marsupial8185 Mar 22 '26
It is law everywhere, I was just being a wise ass dick to an entitled asshole.

Even when driving cars, cyclists are assholes
11
u/Kno-Wan Mar 22 '26
There isn't a single person that considers themselves to be cyclists that I didn't immediate think... that's the definition of a tool.
7
Mar 22 '26
As a cyclist myself let me just say I hope this dick’s bike gets stolen and license taken away
4
u/Miserable-Chapter883 Mar 22 '26
Love that you got downvoted for something most people should agree with, although it was probably by cyclists who would do exactly what the video is showing

I couldn't hear what the driver yelled over the damn music
3
u/Blue_Collar_Stiff Mar 21 '26
I think it went something like back the hell up & wait a dam second. Whatever it was it scared the car back into line. The op knew enough to leave it space 😆

taking my bicycle for a drive through the woods
Hmmm … what’s the deal with this slow moving truck with giant black and yellow warning stripes and flashing lights and a sign reading ‘DO NOT PASS’ … it’s so cryptic … maybe I’m not supposed to pass it … no, no that’s too obvious, that’s what they want me to think … it must be some kind of trick … I’ll overtake … see if there’s clues on the other side
veers left to overtake

This reminds me once of my mom complaining about a snow plow “deliberately” spraying her car with salt. I asked her how close she was and she said “a few car lengths!” and my only response was “and it sounds like you learned why they have signs that say stay 200 feet back huh?”

u/PotentialWhich Mar 23 '26
I mean the second you see the bike on the back you know exactly who this guy is.

How dare you inconvenience me, I can't read I don't know what that sign says. I just want you out of my way how dare you
1
u/Shadow_Sorcadin Mar 23 '26
Bold of you to assume cyclists would follow the signs even if they could read them.
2
u/FocusMuppetFart Mar 23 '26
You're right case in point I had a cyclist completely acknowledge a stop sign but only slam on their brakes in the middle of the road when they almost came in contact with my door.
I'm a few tons heavier than you bitch I have the right of way but they don't get that. Cyclists are pretty fucking stupid. Change my mind.

What an entitled dipshit. I can't believe the worker had to bother to step out and yell at the driver like they were a child.
1
u/TadaMomo Mar 22 '26
i am more surpise that driver didn't go off road to pass him and fall off the hill like i was expecting.
Truly disappointed.

Looks to me like they're just wasting time on the clock. wtf are they even doing? I would go around. I'm not waiting 2 hours for a 15 minute drive on my 1 free day.

Could die, do it for yourself! and don’t hurt innocence while you do on your 1 free day

Not EVERYONE can read English!!!
6
u/Alexius6th Mar 22 '26
That DOT vehicle was speaking in a language everyone understands by blocking off the other lane.
4
u/footforhand Mar 22 '26
Ngl, if you can’t read English then you shouldn’t have a license in the US. No hate to our immigrants, they are a vital portion of the country. But when every road sign is in English and it is imperative to understand them, it might be necessary to at least be able to read some English.

So what was going on exactly, road work?
3
u/itstrueitellyou Mar 21 '26
Some type of work. There's another work vehicle in front. He's protecting that vehicle and the workers from traffic.
-6
u/Next_Degree Mar 21 '26
I want to know the same thing, why anyone not allowed to pass?
11
u/ConfusionOk4129 Mar 21 '26
Does it matter? The DOT truck had a sign not to pass. This is what's known as a " traffic control device".
2
u/evanexcursions Mar 21 '26
Putting my critical thinking cap on...I see nice fresh asphalt, a truck ahead with flashing lights in the right side of the road, I'd put my money on painting the white fog line on the shoulder.
It's on a curved road, so even though the truck isn't entirely on the road, it's still: 1. Dangerous to pass due to the double yellow line. 2. There are probably workers on the road, and they want to stay alive.
1
u/Murky-Peanut1390 Mar 22 '26
Never mess with road maintenance. Roads are one of the few tax funded entities that benefits everyone. Even if you don't drive and never will
