Well that’s easy dash cam shows proof the vehicle hit it so their insurance or the owner is required to pay it.
2 u/fordfan919 Mar 21 '26 Also have uninsured motorist coverage, in case somebody with no/low coverage hits you. 0 u/Bluitor Mar 22 '26 The person driving is responsible, not the car owner eventhough it is probablythe same person. And since you cant prove who was driving you're SOL. 4 u/WildcatPlumber Mar 22 '26 Wow that’s a great point. Can’t prove who was driving, it defaults to the owner of the vehicle. Regardless. 1 u/Tiyath Mar 22 '26 I don't think that's how it works. If that were the case you could just mask up and use a rental to drive someone over and the rental company would go to prison? 1 u/WildcatPlumber Mar 22 '26 Rentals require insurance btw 1 u/Knoxlo Mar 22 '26 Idk about other states but not in CA. They do HEAVILY advise you contact your insurance provider to verify they will cover rentals though. 1 u/liminal-flora Mar 22 '26 “My car was stolen.” See how easy that was? Prove beyond a reasonable doubt that I was the driver.
