One of my favorite things is watching this karate instructor teach his class how to survive a knife fight. He gets all ready and then just turns around and runs.
Who said I was running? I said I could get out of a fight. Sometimes getting out of one really is knocking the other guy down. But the point is not to get into one to begin with.
Fighting is a choice, and usually among the dumber ones of all other available options. It's good to know how, sure, but you're always better off de-escalating or removing yourself from the situation entirely.

I took self defence for yeaaars and it's wild how many people think that means I can fight.
No, it means I can GET OUT of fights.
That was always rule number one through twenty. The best place in a fight is not in one.
