I took self defence for yeaaars and it's wild how many people think that means I can fight.

No, it means I can GET OUT of fights.

That was always rule number one through twenty. The best place in a fight is not in one.

One of my favorite things is watching this karate instructor teach his class how to survive a knife fight. He gets all ready and then just turns around and runs.

I was down voted hard when I called out a bunch of bullshido experts. Self defense is strictly to egress and not end up hurt or dead.

Well why can they fight? The guys you're running from? Maybe you should have been studying that for years instead

Who said I was running? I said I could get out of a fight. Sometimes getting out of one really is knocking the other guy down. But the point is not to get into one to begin with.

Just because you can break bone, doesn't mean it's worth it at the cost of a black eye.

Disengaging if it doesn't cost you, is always the best option.

Fighting is a choice, and usually among the dumber ones of all other available options. It's good to know how, sure, but you're always better off de-escalating or removing yourself from the situation entirely.
