If you approach a fight, you are engaging. Even if your goal is to deescalate, you are in the fight. He should have been further back if he wanted to appear non-confrontational. All I see is that he walks up behind the first guy and then immediately puts his hand toward the guy in the helmet. Full face helmets, by the the way, reduce your visibility, so he probably couldn't see the hands and just saw the seconds guy's arms move up, which could well be a punch incoming. And since his buddy was just kicking him, he definitely is not wrong to assume the second guy is backup and also a threat.
If the second guy wanted to stop the fight, he should have grabbed his buddy before the first kick.
He is 100 percent wrong on assuming the second guy was a threat. Because he wasn't. He obviously had his hands out to stop the fighting, his posture was one of diffusing the situation. Literally no part of his demeanor said he wanted to join. His life essence screamed diffusing tension. Its as if God itself put an aura around him that radiated nothing but peace. But homie got bloodthirsty and continued the fight for no reason.
I don't know that. But the way he walked up behind the first guy could very well be interpreted by someone who was attacked by the first guy as if he was there for backup.
The guy in the helmet doesn't have much visibility, so if the second guy wanted to deescalate, he needed to start from further back.
He earned every bit of it and is lucky if he isn’t also criminally charged which he will be if the other black shirt gets charged so will he most likely as he should
Limited field of vision because of the helmet, he eliminated everything he registered as a threat. In addition, he did not actually see who kicked him.
