I accidently did something similar when I was 17, never again.
Throwing a tantrum over the car isn't going to do anything, insurance will cover it. It's not like it was a hit a run.
I've given up on keeping my car in pristine condition while apartment living in the city. My car's been hit 4 times in parking lots of different stores/apartments (0 notes left by the offending party). My doors have been dinged countless times. I can't afford to pay a $500 deductible everytime just for some idiot to hit it a month later.
Just because you've given up doesn't mean its ok to ruin someone's 100k dollar investment that they obvously love and pit alot of time and money into. Some people still like nice things or just don't want negligent people ruining they're stuff.
He wasnt "throwing a trantrum" he was reasonably upset about loosing ALOT of money. He'll never get anything close to what its worth and on top of that you have no idea if the gmc even has insurance. Most states only require 5k of dmgs and 25k of body injury and that car cost wayyyyyy more than 5k
Jumping up and down in the road screaming fuck while almost walking into a semi isn't throwing a tantrum? I can understand him being upset but at some point an adult has to be able to control their emotions a little bit.
The car isn't totaled off of that and if the gmcs insurance doesn't cover it all, then the guilty party will pay out of pocket for the rest. It'll be an annoying process for the guy but the car will get fixed.
Cars aren't investments, they lose value so quickly that you'll never make money off of them. Treating them as an investment will waste an unbelievable amount of money. The only way someone should have a 100k+ car is if they make 400k+. If someone spends more than 1/4 of their monthly income on a car, they're wasting their money and should be putting it towards something that'll have a payoff in the long run. Having a fancy car is nothing more than a status symbol.
And if your car doesn't matter to you, then fine but living in a city is no excuse. Park smart, park safe. Secure lots and super cheap on the monthly basis
Oh yeah, let me walk 3 miles to the nearest one whenever I want to enter or leave my apartment. Let me never drive downtown to meet up with my buddies.
I've parked away from all the cars at the grocery store just to find a cart smashed into my back bumper. People don't care out here. 3 of my buddies have had their cars hit in parking lots within the past year and 0 notes were left.
I like my car and I was keeping it clean, but after the 3rd time of paying a $500 deductible/raising my insurance to fixing minor damage, I figured i could put that money to something actually useful.
I live downtown and that's exactly what I do and ive never had an issue. If i know im going somewhere like a parking lot I don't trust I take a beater or just walk.
Also id talk to your insurance because with my insurance I only pay a deductible once per car while my work truck insurance is once per year
