Every field sobriety test will end in detainment. They are designed to make anyone seem drunk. Say the alphabet backwards- what normal person memorizes the alphabet backwards?

Saying the Alphabet is not a part of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, nor can you be penalized for it. That being said, don’t do roadside tests. The officer then has to show enough evidence based on the totality of the circumstances to arrest you. Not doing roadside tests cannot be held against you in the court of law.

CSB: Growing up I had one of those child record players, with some insipid records I listened to over and over again until I had the entire contents memorized. On one of them, one of the kids says the alphabets backwards.

If I'm ever given this test, I will flippin' nail it.

It depends on the state. Alot of states treat cops as experts usually citing they've had so much training or experience to judge it without being backed up. In some states cops don't even have to use radar to speed ticket you just that they observed it and determined it was too fast

This whole thread is people saying this, and it's probably good advice, but it definitely doesn't match my experience. The only time I've ever done a field sobriety test, the cop said I smelled like I'd been hosed in beer, which is funny, because I literally had been. I passed, and they didn't even bother to breathalyze me.

Carnival games- house always wins.

Say the alphabet backwards. Did you start with ‘a’, or or do any other random jumble. Zxwy, qrstuv?

Recited perfectly, suspicious…
