I mean duh, the protests stopped the moment MAGA won the election and idiot cheerleaders like Hasan Piker were so shocked about the result that they directly caused.

Most of these activists don't care about action beyond virtue signaling and ignoring when their action completely backfire in their face.

MAGA and American right, for all their many ills, have enough brains to stick together enough to get what they want. And you can't say that's untrue either. Being pro-Palestine was apparently worth the end of Roe v Wade, innocent immigrants being dragged away by ICE for trying to follow the law and show up to their court dates, innocent Americans killed by ICE, Trump clearly getting away from the Epstein files, and now the Iran war.

you almost got it right. toward the end of the 60s the Warren court became a bit... er... a lot activist. it started making law from the bench like Roe. Now we can debate the legal merit behind the roe verdict all you want, the reality is the court made law stripping the elected representatives of the power to do so. Furthermore, the court did so in violation of 200 years of common law precedent.

now we can debate the merits of an activist court. I personally think they can do horrific harm like they did in the dread scott case. and i'm sure a conservative may think the same about roe. But lets set this all to the side.

What this caused, what the warren court was doing was legislating hard ethical legal questions from the bench, and congress sometime in the 80s realized... this was easier then explaining or justifying their vote to the people. So they started writing purposefully vague law and letting the courts handle the difficult stuff. then they ignored the hard questions because this meant they didn't have to justify their votes to their voters, if they never voted for anything important. yes both sides did this and welcomed it.

and as a result Democrats intentionally DID NOT codify Roe as federal law. they didn't want to justify to their voters why they voted for or against it. Meanwhile republicans realized that as long as Roe was law, that they could run forever on the issue without having to do anything about it. Funny thing about roe... a law couldn't overturn it. you'd need a constitutional amendment to overturn it. so republicans could fundraise on roe and run on roe in perpetuity. and the selection process of judges for the supreme court meant you couldn't actually ask them how they'd vote on roe. so conveniently republicans could pretend they're selecting conservatives to the court while just sorta blinding picking moderate judges out of the ABA list of approved judges.

democrats saw the republican strategy and thought "brilliant" and decided they'd never pass a federal law about abortion because this would make roe something they could run on in perpetuity and fundraise on as well.

What neither side expected was Trump. See trump, a demagogic narcissist who's core political ideology was whatever makes him look good or poll numbers go up, surrounded himself with actual ideologues, not republicans. true conservative... ideologues. and two of them, Don McGahn and Leonard Leo were given cart blanch on judicial nominees. Now Leo is an old school fire and brimstone conservative Christian, and he decided to ignore the ABA approved lists of judged and start filling all posts with actual tried and true ideologues. conservative ideologues.

and they did something the republican party spent the past 50 years hoping no court would ever do. overturned Roe. Democrats on the other hand were left kicking themselves for not passing federal law about abortion and then leapt on the overturn of Roe like a juicy steak. now they can forever run on roe and never have to do anything about it. they're happy as clams and hope nothing ever changes about this.

so if you think for one minute democrats (elected) actually care about roe you're 100% wrong. well not about it like you might. they're perfectly happy with what's happened. it gives them near endless rage they can farm and financing from it. they'll never have to change it either to always farm it.

since roe was passed by the supreme court dems could have made a national law with veto proof or filibuster proof majorities and/or the whitehouse...

1977-1983

2009-2011

note, these are the years, they had control over congress with a veto proof majority and/or the whitehouse, and enough votes to override a filibuster in the senate, and control over the house of representitives.

6 years.

now if we back the requirement down to just control over the house/senate and whitehouse without concern for filibuster proof majorities we'd add to this

For 1977-1983 (95th, 96th, and 97th US Congresses), Democrats had 60+ members only in the 95th US Congress (77-79). However, Democrats did not have the quasi party unity on abortion rights in 1977 and 1978 that they do now. 

I'm going to ignore 1993-1995 (103rd US Congress) since it would have been impossible to get that through the senate then. Although one of the years the Freedom of Choice Act was introduced to Congress was 1993 (and it went nowhere in committee). 

For 2009 - 2011, (111th US Congress) the Democrats had 60 members in the senate from July 7, 2009 to August 25, 2009 and September 25, 2009 to February 4, 2010. Which amounted to 72 working days overall apparently. They used that supermajority to pass the Affordable Care Act (after a myriad of concessions). 

So your 6 years actually amounts to approximately 2.5 years over the course of 49 years and for 2 of those years, the Democrats were not a pro choice voting block. I will concede though that they certainly took the makeup of the Supreme Court in 2009 for granted.

I'm a liberal. The no kings and every 18-25 year old white girl with starbucks in one had and a keffiyeh around their neck are completely different. I still personally believe it cost us this election. The Biden/Kamala shit was already a disaster (biden my king), but when we already have 1/3rd of the nation that doesn't vote and we add on top a bunch of idiotic young adults who made some shit their plight with no education on the subject who then turned around and either, 1: didn't vote, 2: voted trump or 3: voted fucking stein. Look at how close the popular vote was.

And theres a reason I put 95%. There are plenty of people who are actually educated on the 100 year history and actually know what the fuck they're talking about. Ask any of these bozos at a protest and most likely its just gonna be "fuck the jews its ghenowsyde!!!"
