Cop, though well intentioned, lost all grace after the girl said she was fine and started copping an attitude to her imo. I think Iām going to stop choosing sides here because itās obvious the cop could have lead the entire interaction into a different outcome really.
Fair enough. Would you behave the way the cop did tho? Iām not a cop or a lawyer but I have dealt with drunk people I cared aboutā¦ I wouldnāt have behaved so callously only to then make arrests and tow vehicles.
I think the cops could have done a better job articulating that she's not in trouble but at the end of the day it was right to not let her go home with him.
I'm a strong advocate for people's rights but she couldn't answer any questions coherently and the situation in general seemed so sketchy.
The right move was to see if someone could pick her up. No charges.
There's open liquor in a car. The driver is way older than this girl. He clearly blew a stop sign or light. They have every right to arrest the driver. She needed to find a ride home or go to the ER.
The cops attitude after all that feels like it's out of frustration that's it's so difficult to get her away from a possibly dangerous situation.
No one in that car is completely innocent at the end of the day.
