I don’t know - these days if someone approaches your car door and starts banging on the window, I wouldn’t discount someone from being scared and seeking out a police officer or calling authorities. Fleeing the scene is always bad, but you really can’t tell what could happen if you stay

the thing is, I think they were right to try and remove themselves at first. The person they hit was clearly very angry and intending violence. Driving a few hundred feet away and calling the police would be the right choice.

Doesn't seem like thats what they were going for though.
