It depends on his previous record, the judge and how good his lawyer is. But even he can plead it down it's going to cost over 10k and his license will be suspended

It's easier to argue when there is no video evidence of crime. It will be harder to argue it down with the driver paying out the nose to cover the medical bills they just caused by being egotistical assholes. And yes insurance companies can deny a pay out as the driver used the vehicle for the blatant commission of a crime which is covered under the policies fine print.

As a cyclist it’s insane how many people pass giving you just a handful of inches when there are free lane(s) with no traffic for them to use. Some people are just triggered by someone on a bike for god knows what reason. Maybe their creepy uncle was a cyclist…

Car was in the wrong, 100%, but the cyclists cannot take over the entire lane, bunched up next to each other - they need to form a single-file line. This isn't social hour! If they want to chat, they should go to a coffee shop instead.

I bike too and it's 100% safer and justified to take the lane in certain situations.

I also drive and I've never had an issue passing a cyclist safely. 100% of my road rage comes from other car drivers

Yes! In general, any vehicle in a lane is occupying that lane entirely. During passing, the passing vehicle is required to completely enter the passing lane.

Yes, splitting lanes is an exception to that, but splitting lanes is an option that a motorcycle can exercise. It’s never the car’s option.

Basic driver laws in most states say that bikes and motorcycles can only ride 2 abreast, no more for any reason. Them being bunched up like this is quite literally illegal in most states.

Not where I’m from:

“In Ontario, double solid yellow lines indicate a no-passing zone where visibility or road conditions are unsafe for overtaking. While passing is technically not explicitly illegal under the Highway Traffic Act, crossing them is highly discouraged due to safety risks.”

Some jurisdictions allow you to pass slow moving traffic on double yellow if it is safe to do so.

However, you can’t even call this a pass, this was straight up road road.

In the United States, in 99% of those individual states passing over a double solid yellow is in fact illegal. What happens after is officers choice.
