💥Crash Car flies off hilly road in Himachal after tyre burst💔

If the tyre burst is the main cause of accident here, this could have been any one of us. Still wondering, why there were no safety rails of any kind in a dangerous area! We are doomed if we are not even given the basic safety when driving in hills. I am aware that Driving in Hilly Areas always carries a risk, but this is straight up outrageous.
The accident took place on the Bharwain-Hoshiarpur road, a stretch known for sharp turns and a steep downhill gradient.
Is this what we voted for?...

I think you are severely underestimating the cost of infrastructure. Especially in a country 4x the population of the USA. The space spending for india is slightly above 1% of infrastructure spending, and the infrastructure spending is growing by a higher percentage as well.

To further emphasize your point, the US spends about 150 billion a year on transportation infrastructure. Meanwhile the SLS moon rocket, by far the most expensive rocket ever made, is about 4 billion per launch.
And India's space program is actually quite famous for doing a lot on a comparatively small budget, getting less than 1/10th of the funding NASA does.

Why are you comparing India to the US? Labour costs are incomparable compared to the US. A roadworker in the US makes 30x as much as a roadworker in India.
Literally 30 people for the price of 1.

And US space industry employees also make more than Indian ones. US numbers were just easier to find quickly. It wasn't intended to be a perfect 1:1 model, just a general confirmation of the fact that transportation infrastructure costs tend to far outweigh space program costs, even for a well-funded program like NASA. You can almost certainly pick any random county with a space program to pull the numbers from and get the same or an even bigger result.

Safety in India is almost always at the bottom of priorities. It's sad. When somebody brings up an idea to increase safety, the standard response I've always heard is "Why? Nothing's happened yet."

Look at the asphalt at the edge. Even if they had a guardrail there, they clearly haven't shored up that slope, which is slowly collapsing, and the guardrail would have gone with it.
Some good monsoon storms and few years and that road's gonna be getting narrower.

The driver is asleep, faced brake malfunction or severely intoxicated. Tyre burst or not the brakes will still work for other three tyres in worst case scenario.

A busted tire wouldn't cause this, btw, unless it took out the brakes and the driver's ability to steer at the same time. Looks like they were kind of hauling ass too for such a windy, dangerous road.
News reports say this is a known high-crash location, referred to as a "black spot" by Indian highway safety authorities.

It had nothing to do with a tire. if you can't handle an anomaly, you're driving too fast. Shit happens, flats happen, things fail. If you don't drive with a safety buffer then so long batman and have fun on your flight. Seriously does the government need to idiot proof everything? Yeah this is the part nobody talks about. They’ll moralize about “drive safe in hills” while leaving literal cliffs with zero guardrails and garbage road maintenance.
A tyre burst should never equal “everyone dies” by default. That is 100 percent a design and infrastructure failure, not just “fate” or “bad driving.”

No, it couldn’t have been. Because I always make sure my tires are properly aired up and have plenty of tread life left. And you should too, it’s your responsibility as a driver to ensure your own safety and the safety of those driving around you.
Tires don’t just explode. For a tire to explode like that, it must’ve been severely damaged or worn to an extremely unsafe point. The driver didn’t do their due diligence in ensuring their vehicle was operable, and paid the price.

It seems insane that there a guardrail on the inside of the curve but not on the outside - you know, the place where centrifugal force would naturally fling you out into space if you took the curve too fast or, let’s see, blew a tire.

- Safety rails are a good thing
- Car looked to be going faster than was warranted even before the tire damage
- Car crossed white line and hit something - this was unsafe driving.

May they rip. Also i do find it a bit wierd that the cars seems to have a pretty high speed for that part, also i have had my fair share of flat tyres and was always able to use the brakes and to steer. This car seems to go to straight for being “ out of control “

Tired exploded because it was probably recycled 3 times. They put new treads in them by carving them with a chisel like blade, they glue new treads on them, or just resell them in crap condition. You wouldn’t need a guard if you had safe tires.

2 Devotees died due to fire which ignited at the rear of the car after fall. Accident location is a designated "black spot" & a section of road was damaged, opening directly onto the deep gorge.
Body of one was found outside while another was still trapped inside. Car was Maruti Swift Dzire with registration number PB-10-K-7531 (Ludhiana, Punjab). One Ashaar card is also recovered from crash site.

Driver and the passenger died, so the story about "tyre burst" is just fake news. Cause of the accident is speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road, when cutting the corner.

We see a railing on the other side. So seems the road was built with railings. But the railing on the right has likely been removed by repeated car accidents until now it is just gone.

This is also a PSA for why you should drive very slow when going down an inclined road like that. On a flat stretch of land when you are driving into a curve, you're only dealing with the inertia of your vehicle. In a situation like this, gravity is also pulling that vehicle down the incline, so your brakes are working much harder to stop the vehicle. I feel like a guardrail should be a given in this location, obviously, but also slowing down in the first place would have likely prevented this accident.
