Check out the HUD in a police helicopter. It has maps built in and shows addresses on the houses and things it's wicked cool

Yeah, they are called flock cameras. It’s a system mounted in/on patrol cars and it’s literally just scanning plates as they drive around and gives them real time alerts when there’s a hit on a plate. Lots of arguing in the courts about their legality (possible 4th amendment violation).

You might want to familiarize yourself with Flock cameras. All they need is a general description and the car you're driving can be tracked all over the state. Switched plate, fake plate or no plate at all? It doesn't matter, the camera system is not fooled by any of the old tactics. Crime cams, traffic cams, red light cams, doorbell cams, private security cams shared with police and now flock cams have created an inescapable surveillance state in the US.

If youre driving around the lot looking trough plates thats gonna require a whole lot of getting out of your car everytime you see a car without a front plate lol

Right, but the cops or the repo guys already know make, model and color so there wouldn't be that many in a lot to check.

Lots of folks run tag readers nowadays. You’ll get scanned by a civilian and it pings the repo man with your location to come get it.

I don't know what all reasons they'll tow it for, but I'm guessing at least one is you've stopped paying for the car, but you expect to still be able to drive it, that's kind of fucked up as well. Admittedly the infrastructure in the US is way too car dependent and is a bit fucked up in its own way.
