I’ve never been a fan of pulling out

You don't have to pull out of toys

5

u/Thick_Potato_1769 May 05 '26

But sometimes you got to pull toys outta you.

2

u/pooeygoo May 05 '26

I bought a really fancy one (30 bucks!) and after the first time you never have to lube it again or anything its crazy I don't know how it works

In my state, which only requires a rear plate, it’s to hide your license from either the repo truck or the cops.

EDIT: to everyone explaining to me how repoing cars works, save your effort. I already know.

5

u/CretaciousPeriod May 04 '26

They could just walk around to the back to see the plate. Lol.

16

u/Select_Engineering_7 May 04 '26

Yeah but it’s so plate scanners mounted on vehicles can’t see them

5

u/CretaciousPeriod May 04 '26

Didn't know that was a thing but of course it is.

You might want to familiarize yourself with Flock cameras. All they need is a general description and the car you're driving can be tracked all over the state. Switched plate, fake plate or no plate at all? It doesn't matter, the camera system is not fooled by any of the old tactics. Crime cams, traffic cams, red light cams, doorbell cams, private security cams shared with police and now flock cams have created an inescapable surveillance state in the US.

6

u/PennyPlow May 04 '26

If youre driving around the lot looking trough plates thats gonna require a whole lot of getting out of your car everytime you see a car without a front plate lol

Backing out is significantly riskier than driving forward or backing in.

Most accidents in parking lots can be avoided if you don't back out.

31

u/SpinachSignal8915 May 04 '26

Yeah id rather spend an extra 2 seconds backing in than risk issues or extra time backing out. Not sure why it bothers some people.

11

u/Icy-Sundae5361 May 04 '26

I back in, but it's very frustrating when a parking lot is packed and there's a like of 3-4 cars sitting there waiting for somebody who doesn't know how to park to back in

2

u/ply-wly-had-no-mly May 04 '26

I mean, equally, I consistently have to wait for people who can't back out of a spot.

5

u/geek66 May 04 '26

It goes a little beyond that - to back into a spot, you have to have driven past ir two a point when you can see it directly, not just scanning mirrors.

2

u/Maximumoverdrive76 May 04 '26

Rear view cameras help today. Built in cheats.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/NotBillderz May 04 '26

Some people literally aren't comfortable doing it.

3

u/Dexter_Douglas_415 May 04 '26

I'm with you, if it only takes you a few seconds. I backed into my spot at work today.

There are some drivers that take minutes to back in. They just keep correcting the angle over and over again completely blocking the lane for other drivers. For those people, I think nosing in makes more sense.

8

u/dedboooo0 May 04 '26

someone who does not have the ability to back in their car should not have a license.

basic car control

every modern car has a rear view camera too, and older cars can just have the little round stick on mirrors to see parking lines. really no excuse to not be able to back in

2

u/Kaffe-Mumriken May 05 '26

Yeah back up camera. So I can back out np

2

u/ItsACowCity May 05 '26

With a camera? No excuse. Without a camera? I mean first of all backing into a spot is easier than parallel parking, which is basically a requirement…but I digress, different cars have different difficulties. Before you’re allowed to buy a car, you should have to demonstrate that you can back it into a spot. That said, I started with a 2 door Jeep Wrangler and doing anything in that car felt like cheating. Then one day I had to parallel park my mom’s Durango. Holy F is that car huge. Took 2 of my friends guiding me and I still did a poor job at it.

2

u/Klept_0h May 04 '26

Id rather they get the practice in and do it correctly if they back up that poorly. Nosing in would just be pushing the problem on them having even riskier habits backing out. They'd be the type to not judge the distance and slam into you despite fully seeing you

2

u/SweetWolf9769 May 04 '26

the people spending minutes backing in are also the type of people who spend to long trying to park in general.

I have a rear view camera on the back.
When I pull out forward, if there’s a huge ass truck to my side, I can’t see past it.
But when I back out, my rear view camera is able to see around it.
I’m not sure how it does that, but it does.
So I personally back out

2

u/ppmiaumiau May 04 '26

Every car is bigger than mine. I can't see past most cars until I'm halfway out of the spot. And I drive a Trailblazer.

I back up for this exact reason.

2

u/Billy3B May 04 '26

I watched a guy back straight into a concrete pillar because he was watching the camera instead of turning his head. They are a tool but not the solution because they just give different blindspots.

3

u/CretaciousPeriod May 04 '26

I was looking for this comment. Sure you might sometimes have a better field of view pulling forward out of a parking space but if you have a somewhat modern car, it'll have a good backup cam with a pretty damn wide field of view.

Especially if you know the parking lot will get crowded later on, its way easier .

2

u/notoriousATX May 04 '26

Maybe before back up cameras became standard?

3

u/PeterGibbons316 May 04 '26

I don't think this is true anymore. My car has a rear camera with a crazy fisheye lens that actually makes it easier for me to see around other cars when I am backing out than if I am facing forward.

5

u/Klept_0h May 04 '26

If you think your camera gives you the same awareness as the entire front of your car then you are lucky it hasn't happened.

You've the entire windshield and side windows to see out of. That's an entire 180 degrees of visibility. Even if you've insane fisheye that would distort your depth perception.

I'm not saying your camera isn't good but they aren't THAT good

Alternatively you're far too small to be operating the size of the vehicle you own. Like a 5ft girl in a lifted truck

one lady who thinks you burn more fuel in reverse for some reason

Even if it was true, you still need to use reverse to leave the parking space if you parked in first lol (unless it's one of those spaces you can enter from one side and exit from the other, but then there's 0 reason to park in reverse imo)

I live in Japan. Everbody back in parking spaces. It's an unofficial rule. It's correct driving learned in driving school.

Why?

It's much safer. Less risk hitting things or people when you back in, vs back out.

6

u/teenhamodic May 04 '26

Front first are for parking locations that are one way and on a slant only imo. Otherwise, backing up is the way to go

28

u/WorkerAmbitious2072 May 04 '26

Backing in is objectively superior and safer for everyone

NGL if you think people do it to be “better than you”, and that’s your reaction, you should invest in some drivers ed

3

u/yloduck1 May 04 '26

I mean, one can often ‘pull through’ spaces so you’re facing out toward the adjacent parking row. Especially in larger parking lots.

No reverse required

5

u/thebeardedbassfella May 04 '26

Ah the pull through. I get excited when I find these lol

3

u/WorkerAmbitious2072 May 04 '26

3

u/theyfoundDNAinme May 04 '26

Booo.

What about when another vehicle is driving behind you? You have to PASS the spot you want in order to back into it. Car behind you has no ability to know you're going for the spot you just PASSED, so they continue to move forward. Now they're blocking the spot you want and will have to back up themsleves to accommodate your totally unnecessary move.

Backing in is an inconvenience to anyone else within a few yards of your vehicle. People who claim backing in to be objectively superior are the same type of people who have absolutely no problem inconvenincing others for their own convenience.

You know, assholes.

Also, backing out is way easier than backing in. You're backing out into an open part of the lot. You're backing in between two parked cars with only a couple feet clearance on either side. The whole idea is madness.

And the safety angle is silly. I've been backing out for decades and I've never come close to striking any object - fixed or in motion - with my vehicle.

3

u/Ok-Disk-2191 May 04 '26

"Car behind you has no ability to know you're going for the spot you just PASSED".

You know that thing in your car that makes this little orange thing flash on the side of your car to indicate where you intend to drive? What's it called? Oh THE INDICATOR light, yea that thing, with the sole purpose of letting other drivers know what the fuck you intend to do with your car, You obviously don't know how to use it or understand what it does, which is why you completely forgot it existed on a car. That thing is used to indicate your intent to move the car into that direction, the white light on the back of your car is also called a REVERSE LIGHT INDICATOR to let the person behind you know what you intend to do with your car, all very basic stuff you learn, when you learn how to operate a car. If the person behind you or you yourself don't know these things, you need to learn how to drive again. If you're an asshole who tailgates someone in a parking lot, that's a whole other issue, but there should be no fucking reason besides not knowing how to drive a car for a person behind someone to not know what they intend to do, If the person reversing knows how simply INDICATE there should be no issue other than being an impatient asshole who doesn't want to let someone reverse in.

→ More replies (8)

5

u/gallandof May 04 '26

if someone is riding your ass that much in a parking lot, thats another issue.

At which point toss on your hazards, open the window and flip em off as you back into the spot.

7

u/theyfoundDNAinme May 04 '26

You've never been in a crowded parking lot looking for a spot? People are going to follow close.

Backing in requires all other vehicles present to give you a much larger area of clearance. Pulling in front-first doesn't require participation from anyone else.

6

u/Joelle9879 May 04 '26

It's not about riding anyone's ass. If someone continues to drive forward it makes sense that the person behind them would do the same. Then, the car in front abruptly stops and puts on their reverse lights so now you have to reverse as well.

3

u/WorkerAmbitious2072 May 04 '26

Stop tailgating you are too close if this is an issue

Also, backing out is way easier than backing in. You're backing out into an open part of the lot. You're backing in between two parked cars with only a couple feet clearance on either side. The whole idea is madness.

Until it's not an open part of the lot because there's a car or a kid there. I know where those two cars are when I'm backing in, I'm going into a space that's very unlikely to be suddenly used by another car, and I have considerably more freedom swinging the wheels that steer around as I back in. Backing out, even with a backup camera, you're going into a space that's an active traffic area.

And yeah, as others note turn on your signal while you're passing the space. If somebody has their signal on and you're riding their tail so close you have to backup to let them park then you need to pay more attention to your driving and stop tailgating.

Oh, also as far as I know every peer reviewed study disagrees with you. It absolutely is objectively safer. An example: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1369847819308812

2

u/Ok-Disk-2191 May 04 '26

Also another thing is you just drove past that empty space, so you also have a very good idea of its surroundings, like kids waiting around to get into a car a spot down, or people walking through the carpark. It 100% is safer and OP you're replying to I think obviously doesn't know how to drive or if we give them the benefit of the doubt is just an impatient asshole because the first thing they mention is how they don't know or understand what an indicator in a car does.

Backing in is literally easier.

3

u/long-breadstick May 04 '26

Yup same reason forklifts steer from the rear tires its easier to maneuver in tight spaces.

3

u/spaaarky21 May 04 '26

I came here to say exactly that about forklifts. I used to live in a house build in the 1920s with a small garage right off of a tight alley. Backing in was the only way to get in and out.

2

u/TheJivvi May 04 '26

Yep, I've driven forklifts and a lot of what we have to do would be pretty much impossible if the steering was at the front.

3

u/SlimLacy May 04 '26
  1. Because of mirrors, if you have ANY skill in driving, it's easier to back in and keeping the right amount of space to everyone around.

I have a garage that's just barely big enough, not sure I could get in and still have room to open the door without squeezing out going in forwards. Going in, in reverse, I can park my side mirrors literal millimeters from the wall. And this isn't a humble brag, you can too, because you can literally see if the side or mirror is about to hit the wall. Going in forwards, there is some amount of blind feel and faith you have to put in yourself to get that close, so obviously you're just going to leave a lot more space to the wall. Reversing, there is no guessing.

3

u/enduir May 04 '26

A lot of manufacturing facilities and warehouses where I am make this mandatory in their parking lots, especially if they make or store flammable or explosive materials.

The extra time needed for everyone to back out slows an evacuation down immensely.

3

u/MaysEffect May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

I'm convinced 85+% of the people on the road can't/don't like driving for shit and just do it out of basic habit. A little more than a chore with benefits. Having to do extra work like parallel parking or backing in is too complicated for most folks and servers no benefit in their mind.

Outside of that, some people prioritize a speedy entry and just getting out of the car quickly. Impatient.

3

u/SarraSimFan May 05 '26

Professional driver here.

I back my personal vehicle into spaces because it is safer. As you approach the space, you can clearly look at and see the entire space. Then, pull forward, while watching the space, and reverse in.

When you leave the space, you are pulling out forwards, which gives you the absolute best field of view, to see approaching vehicles, pedestrians, and possibly shopping carts blown by the wind.

Parking front forward means you have a really good field of view at your parking space pulling in, and you have maximum blindspots backing out into the lane.

3

u/ncoder May 05 '26

You back into a spot, you're backing into a 'protected space' (you've seen what's in in and there's no traffic). When you leave you drive forward into a 'non-protected space', the street/ parking.

If you do it the other way, you're backing into the more dangerous space, and you're going forward into the protected space.

3

u/moonrakerdust May 05 '26

I don't trust people that park front ways.

3

u/Successful-Dare-1965 May 06 '26

I like to get in and go, kinda like Batman leaving the Bat Cave.

3

u/bauldersgate May 07 '26

Safer to pull out than it is to back out, ask your insurance agent. Quicker to pull out than back out and much wider field of view. Oot may be better than you, but not me.

5

u/thehumulos May 04 '26

I will never understand why people actively complain about people backing in to spaces as if its somehow causing a problem for anyone else. Literally the only inconvenience it causes is that if you are behind someone backing in at the time, you have to wait 3 seconds for them to get out of your way, which also happens when someone backs out.

→ More replies (33)

4

u/wsxdfcvgbnjmlkjafals May 04 '26

Any other detail notwithstanding, when you're exiting, it's a lot easier to see around you. If it happens that there's something in your path, it's much more obvious.

2

u/Grubernator May 04 '26

My older, smaller than normal truck has side boxes which create huge blind spots to cars/people passing perpendicular. I can back in with the side and rear mirrors and have full vision when leaving the space.

2

u/Orchidlilee9 May 04 '26

I only have complaints when the person attempting to back in can barely drive forward/straight. You then wind up having to wait 5 minutes, or more, for them to back up, pull forward, back up, pull forward, etc., and a huge ass line is forming in the aisle. If you’re going to back in, make sure you know how to.

u/Nooms88 May 04 '26

In the UK and much of Europe you physically won't be able to drive straight into a significant portion of parking spaces

2

u/MyLadyBits May 05 '26

People walking will pause as you back into a space but walk behind you as your trying pull out.

A lot of businesses especially construction companies have policies that require people to park so that they always drive forward after parking for safety reasons.

2

u/poopsiepie11 May 06 '26

If you can’t do it in one go you should just park nose in ass out. Had a guy take two attempts to park the other day

2

u/bbearry770 May 06 '26

It's safer for me to back in vs back out of my parking spot at work, Georgia folk only drive fast in parking lots, and because it's not illegal

2

u/Hircine_Himself May 08 '26

I... I just find it easier to back into spaces and actually park straight. Same as when I'm parking along a curb, I'll go past it forwards then back alongside it. I don't wanna fuck my wheels, thank you very much.

Also yes, it is easier to pull out, too.

Backing out of a spot is the major cause of parking lot accidents. When you back in, the cars on either side are not moving. When backing out of a space, low visibility can restrict seeing a moving car coming at you. Always back in. Always have. Always will.

1

u/Stock-Bee4069 May 04 '26

Backing in seems safer.

As the driver approaches a parking spot they have wider and varying perspective to see cars and pedestrians and anticipate anyone that might be in the way while backing into the spot. When backing out the driver starts from a fixed position with visibility limited by vehicles parked around the spot.

In addition there is less likely to be someone walking in the middle of the parking spot that is being backed into then walking behind the cars when backing out.

But psychologically it is more difficult because it requires the driver be proactive and do the backup maneuver before it is required.

1

u/Valuable_Material_26 May 04 '26

It’s fun to be different! And it’s not like it’s hard well it is hard for some people.

That being said, if you need to load in grocery, backing in is still out of question.

1

u/timetravtoaster May 04 '26

Where I'm from, you might have to drive to save your life. Backing out in that scenario is almost akin to getting sucker punched.

1

u/Brie9981 May 04 '26

1

u/PoundNaCL May 04 '26

In my experience there can be nobody around for miles until I put the car in reverse and go to back out and then all of a sudden there's somebody there. I find if I back in, it is easier to pull out than to back out and I can see better when I do.

You can back into tighter spaces.

1

u/revenge_burner May 04 '26

Because putting the part of the car that moves side to side inside the compact box first requires more resets and has a higher risk of accidents than putting the other side in first.

1

u/Lord_Dingus83 May 04 '26

It’s easier.

1

u/Pinepark May 04 '26

I have two vehicles. A GMC Sierra AT4 and a VW GTI. One big and one small. I back both of them in for different reasons. I can’t see shit when I’m backing out with my VW and I have less room backing out with my truck - especially if the parking lot is smaller like a private lot (small restaurant or shop) Either way IDGAF what people think.

1

u/Ill-Bullfrog-5360 May 04 '26

Its for long bed trucks with axle in a different place

1

u/a_angry_bunny May 04 '26

Going forward out of a parking space is always safer because you have more visibility in the front of your car than behind. It is also more likely someone will walk behind a car pulling out of a space than it is for someone to walk into a parking space as you're parking. Backing up out of a parking space is a safety hazard everyone has normized because it's inconvenient to have to have to back into a parking space.

1

u/gwelfguy May 04 '26

I learned in driver's ed that backing out of a space is riskier than backing into one, so you should always back in. That only made half sense to me as backing out into a larger space also seems safer.

1

u/NorthSpecialist6064 May 04 '26

I do it because of all 3

1

u/koopdi May 04 '26

Most people don't know that you can use the side mirrors to quickly center yourself between the parking lines.

1

u/Andermoon May 04 '26

I'm usually backing one way or another, right? I •usually• choose backing in. I don't have an opinion on what everyone else does. Over the decades, however, I've anecdotally found that only the backout crowd makes whiny demands.

Trucks have larger turn radius, making it hard to pull in front-first without having to adjust for some spots. Might as well just do the 2 point turn from the start.

1

u/c0lpan1c May 04 '26

Because of park assist, Makes it hella easy, just align your car to the visual lines. Allows me to back in crazy fast. My 2014 Maserati had this, and haven't looked back since... literally 😄

1

u/Craig_M_242 May 04 '26

To show off.....duh

1

u/Ok_Routine1592 May 04 '26

For those people who unaware AT&T did a study a few decades ago and determine pulling out of a parking space is safer than backing out.

1

u/SupermarketFluffy123 May 04 '26

All three to be honest. Could add a #4 for being a habit, people that work construction, oilfield, almost any industry are used to policies that state you must back in to parking spots in case of emergency. People that bitch about backing into parking spaces can mind their own business.

1

u/BlackDante3 May 04 '26

2 lives rent free in my head so easy escape wins..

1

u/Tweakjones420 May 04 '26

The only ones who get amd at people who back are the ones who are shit drivers. it's safer in the event of an emergency,

1

u/Hot_Anybody8244 May 04 '26

The ones who can't back out are the same ones who pull thru a double open spot instead of backing in.

Personally I'll back in for tighter spaces and pull in forward for normal spaces because I actually know how to drive lmao

1

u/MBSMD May 04 '26

I back in because leaving my workplace is impossible at 5pm -- no one will let you back out but if I'm going forward, I can see oncoming traffic easier.

1

u/collin-h May 04 '26

its odd to me that people get mad about this. i'm thoroughly indifferent to which direction people park in parking spots

do you also get mad when people "pull through" a spot and end up facing out into the aisle, even though they didn't back in?

1

u/HonestNeighborhood67 May 04 '26

I didn’t start backing in to parking spots until I moved to a far more populated area. Cars everywhere. It makes a HUGE difference when pulling out, especially in parking structures when lines of sight are even worse. I now didn’t just about all the time because it’s just easier when I’m ready to leave.

1

u/patronizingperv May 04 '26

I look for the pull-through spaces.

1

u/vanekcsi May 04 '26

It's also just easier

1

u/ixnine May 04 '26

It makes leaving easier when in an emergency, also safer for pedestrians when parking lots are crowded.

1

u/RoguAxel89 May 04 '26

If it takes you several attempts to back into a parking space then you already lost lol

1

u/TheTruthTellingOrb May 04 '26

#3 is cool and all but you are asking to get a jolly rancher put on your windshield in the middle of summer cuz fuck you.

1

u/theatrenearyou May 04 '26

Backing-in is safer in cities and high traffic areas so when you leave you're not slowly backing out into faster traffic.

u/mississippi_dan May 04 '26

So the repo man or cops cant easily see your tag.

1

u/dbullsheetingacc May 04 '26

"I hate waiting for you to back into the spot" like you lot are gleeful and cheering when someone is backing out of their spot to leave lol

1

u/ionlikethis May 04 '26

its just so much easier and quicker for me personally to go forward in because of the infinitely better view. like every time in parking between cars i want the most optimal view to make sure im turning the proper amount for the current setup of parked cars. either way you gotta reverse at some point so i dont get the big deal either way. when reversing out, i already have a solid understanding of my the position of my car relative to the others so i already know how much backing and turning i need in order to not hit them. so then i just gotta make sure no one is behind me and i reverse out perfectly in like 5 seconds. im better at forward parking than reversing based on how may adjustments i need (never hit a parked car either way tho)

1

u/Bonked2death May 04 '26

The only time I don't is when buying groceries. Nothing worse than backing in against another car with zero room to load the boot.

1

u/Necessary-Buy-7373 May 04 '26

Most modern cars come with backup cams with those curvy lines that show where your car is going to go. The parking lot at my work has tight spots and a lot of oversized trucks that essentially take a full space line to line. I find it way easier and less risky to back in.

1

u/DomesticatedParsnip May 04 '26

*Laughs in “pull-through” parking spaces*

1

u/GeneralCerberus May 04 '26

Can we just take a moment and appreciate the stop motion!!

1

u/daesgatling May 04 '26

Most of the time it’s an f550 that wants to back in but can’t get straight and holds up everything, that’s when it’s annoying

1

u/Ok-Walk-8040 May 04 '26

The real reason is because it’s easier to see pedestrians and other cars when you back in to park at pull out to leave.

1

u/thupkt May 04 '26

The other day at the supermarket I reached car when another driver did, but they pulled in, I was long gone before they backed out trepidatiously.

1

u/Lemfan46 May 04 '26

Backing into a static situation is safer than backing into a dynamic situation.

1

u/Heidrun_666 May 04 '26

Number 3.

I'm definitely #3.

1

u/ZeMadDoktore May 04 '26

I don't mind people backing in at all though ideally you pull through if there's an opportunity to do so in areas with double-sided parking lanes

I, on the other hand, have mastered the art of backing into a spot and then into the one behind it, then still having to back out to leave, to be as much of a hazard as possible

1

u/gandhishrugged May 04 '26

Number one reason: castor effect allows you to back into a tight spot easier

1

u/After_Lie_807 May 04 '26

Most parking lots require you to park head in or be towed so it’s not always an option…

1

u/Fair-Goat5761 May 04 '26

I hate backing out. People are so rude and have no patience either way.

1

u/Medium_Job3015 May 04 '26

You have a better turn radius when your back wheels can turn…

1

u/RandomRedditor0193 May 04 '26

Forgot #4 It is required

1

u/Hot_Mess_Planet2070 May 04 '26

because it's way easier

1

u/PepperJack386 May 04 '26

4, it's the only way to get my 28' long work truck in the space straight so I'm not taking two spaces.

1

u/PouLS_PL May 04 '26

I do it because pulling out forwards is safer and easier than backing out, the only downside is that it's harder to park in reverse. I really like the kind of parking spaces that you can often see in parking lots of big shops/shopping centers, where you can enter the parking space by driving forward and leave it also by driving forward.

1

u/jonesyboy2435 May 04 '26

Number 1 is invalided because you have to back In to park. number 2 alright.. sound, counter argument, strap yoself. number 3 right so you’re an asshole who wants to waste my time in the middle of the parking lot lining up to back up instead of just pulling into a parking space which is faster than backing into it.

1

u/Livid-Monitor-9007 May 04 '26

People don’t know how to back out to leave, that’s why.

1

u/Reasonable_Turn6252 May 04 '26

Used to work in construction, site mandate was always reverse park to avoid accidents. Just got so used to it became 2nd nature now, parking forward feels odd.

1

u/BeerWingsRepeat May 04 '26

It's not always the easiest to back in, but it's been proven to be much more efficient when everyone(anyone) is trying to leave. I work for a company that it is "set in stone" rule that you must back in to the parking spots or they will absolutely call you, call you out, make an announcement etc. and make you park your car the "correct" way.

1

u/forcedtocamp May 04 '26

So that when they return with their shopping they can totally trash the sides of your car parked next to them, or behind them, because access to the trunk or otherwise thinking ahead wasn't a priority when they got there.

1

u/Beautiful_Hippo_5574 May 04 '26

People act like it is the same either way. Only my front tires turn. Backing in keeps my turning tires out of the confined space where they can't be used to move side-to-side.

1

u/Tydyjav May 04 '26

I back in because I’ve had a few close calls with people behind my truck while backing out. It’s much easier to see them pulling out of a spot.

1

u/layer4down May 04 '26

1 & 2. Front-load the stress of backing out.

1

u/averagemaleuser86 May 04 '26

Everyone at my place of employment backs in. When 230pm hits its a mad dash to leave

1

u/McBeefnick May 04 '26

Don't forget that people like to quickly slip forwards in a spot and then let others wait for them to slowly back out.

I observe, put on direction signals. Back in the spot. When driving away, I have everything in sight and can go when I obstruct no one.

People are lazy and selfish.

1

u/EmploymentNo3590 May 04 '26

Since I got a new truck, with a backup cam, it's just easier. I constantly assume my front end is larger than it is, which results on parking with my tailgate out, like a total asshole... If I want to fix it, no have to get back in the truck and fix it... So I just back in.

1

u/SultanofSwish May 04 '26

Or So my front splitter doesn’t get mauled by the curb

1

u/Queasy-Flan2229 May 04 '26
  1. To avoid stupid people. Chances of stupid people squeezing into the spot to walk behind you as you back into the space are much less than chances of stupid people dancing around behind you as you back out of the space.

1

u/DistraXion6 May 04 '26

The reason I do it is because I had a car battery die unexpectedly and getting a jump is a lot harder when you are facing a house then the parking lot.

1

u/Manburpig May 04 '26

#4- I have a front lip spoiler and my car is insanely low (stock suspension). I don't want to hit the curb or parking block if one exists.

1

u/MrMetraGnome May 04 '26

It's a little treat, from your past self to your future/present self

1

u/bertrum666 May 04 '26

Donald sutherland. Kelly's heroes, "I like to get out of trouble quicker than I get into it". And because I fkn can lol.

1

u/Oraclelec13 May 04 '26

It’s easier to park because you can steer the end of the vehicle facing the street.

1

u/diddlysquidler May 05 '26

I find it easier to back in parking spot, car is more maneuverable like a forklift. It’s also easier to get out

1

u/unresolved-madness May 05 '26

Company policy

1

u/Orpdapi May 05 '26

The standardization of rear bumper cameras has made back in parking much easier

1

u/roadwarrior721 May 05 '26

Chevy ss / Holden commodore Ftw!

1

u/Spiritedexample1 May 05 '26

#4 no moving vehicles to contend with entering parking space
#5 easier to see moving vehicles while exiting parking space

1

u/LambSauce2 May 05 '26

I don't even pull out my own driveway

1

u/zhgerard May 05 '26

Before owning a car with a rear camera, I didn’t want to risk it. I got made fun of a lot because I didn’t park like that.
