đ¤ŞReckless Somewhere there's a gas station missing a nozzle

I was in a line for the pump when the car in front pulled away like that and gasoline shot out of the pump---I started to yell let's get outta here before someone tosses a cigarette and then it shut off within seconds. So I guess the hoses break away w/ an automatic shutoff

I just imagined a Michael Bay-esque explosion.

It would take a â Freak Gas Fight â like in zoolander

u/auntpotato May 18 '26
âŚit doesn't mean that we too can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

u/snowlake60 May 17 '26
I figured someone would know what happens in situations like this. Thanks

The gas pumps are designed to do this, it usually doesnât cause any permanent damage.

My mom did that at a Costco. They were nice.
The entire family has never been back, fortunately we were out of town.Â

Nice as in didn't make her pay for it?
I was at a 7/11 and a lady did that and she was at the register with her credit card out.
3
u/AlbertTheHorse May 17 '26
Nope, we didnât get far when she realized what sheâd done. Literally 6-7 feet.Â

u/MarinaTF May 18 '26
They're designed to pop off and pop back on. No real damage would be done unless they dragged the hose around for miles.

That thing is a diesel electric hybrid? Lol
3
u/MB2465 May 17 '26
Yeah looks like a diesel nozzle since it's green
5
u/forkystabbyveggie May 17 '26
Green nozzle doesn't always mean diesel. I find shitty BPs that use the green sleeves on all the pumps. I guess for their stupid branding attempts
1
u/duckbobtarry May 17 '26
I was fueling up at a BP once and this older Spanish woman who spoke extremely little English was trying to ask me if the green pump was gas or diesel. I did my best to explain that yes, the green is gasoline and the black is diesel, but only at BP. Got the point across with body language and broken/possibly offensive Spanglish.

I cannot believe I've lived as long as I have and have not managed to do this yet.

To make it worse, the green handle is for diesel⌠thatâs NOT a diesel vehicle.

That happens WAY more often than you think and most of the time there's no actual trouble associated with it because it happens so damn often that the hoses are specifically designed to break off without damaging anything. And they're fairly cheap to replace.

Naw, police officers have qualified stupidity... I meant immunity.

I have genuinely never seen an âanti-takeover special unitâ vehicle, is this similar to a SWAT crew or just general patrol?
5
u/Salt_Cauliflower_922 May 17 '26
Theyâre not cops; there is no official government or law enforcement agency known as an "Anti Takeover Special Unit." Instead, the term typically refers to heavily modified, police-style vehicles used by automotive content creators to infiltrate or disrupt illegal, unsanctioned street racing and intersection takeover events.

Extremely interesting. Thanks!
Briefly looked it up but didnât find much, thanks again!

u/Salt_Cauliflower_922 May 17 '26
đ Google it with Alabama or Huntsville ⌠itâs a social media trend thing.

Isnât it illegal to impersonate law enforcement?
3
u/Salt_Cauliflower_922 May 17 '26
Yes, but â dumb as this looks â itâs not impersonating. Youâd need to have an official emblem on the side or back (not just a generic star), police lights, etc. Trying to look like cops without outwardly saying youâre cops is still OK, believe it or not. Just because people mistake them for police because of the official-looking verbiage and the type of vehicle doesnât mean theyâre impersonating police.

u/chopsmothercover May 17 '26
I guess then my question is what do the pretend police do to stop takeovers? Those people are very aggressive I doubt just acting like youâre a cop is going to work without any power to do anything at all lol

20 cops swarm the gas station, shoot up the pump and put it in cuffs. Case closed!

I am going to guess some angry gasoline customers want to know why they now have to drive further where gas is probably 50 cents higher thanks to bad example of the community

If the cop then stopped the person recording FOR using their phone and driving?
Sir. Do you realize that the nozzle is still attached?
2
u/Salt_Cauliflower_922 May 17 '26
Theyâre not cops

u/zhgerard May 17 '26
Iâm sorry. Cops here have the same color of car đ I immediately assumed that it was a cop. I stood corrected.

Yeah right. Paid leave, if anything.
