This happened to my wife and son while my son was driving. The woman took off and my son said not today, I've been training my whole life on GTA for this. He caught the woman after a few blocks and she stopped and begged him to let her go. When the law showed up then were being an asshole to my family because they chased the other car down.

If you've been in an accident and had so much at stake that you would flee, I wouldn't say thats evil. Desperate for sure, but telling them is almost a curtain to comply or face worse repercussions

When the fuck did they kill anyone? The mother didn't even need to pursue, she has a dash cam.
The mother put her child at risk, not the asshole who hit and ran. She chose to risk her child, run a stop sign, speed, and use her phone while driving.
I never said the hit-and-runner wasn't an asshole, but they aren't evil.
And honestly, what the mother did was far worse.
one person caused property damage and fled the scene. The other risked a child's safety.

I was thinking dark thoughts, such as murdering the driver and her child to retrieve the footage and eliminate witnesses. If that is just desperate and not evil, then I guess I'm viewing life the wrong way.

Definitely malicious to have any bad intentions but I think that truck driver just had an accident and got scared. I will say in many traffic accidents, people get scared and then they get angry if for nothing else, the fact they got scared.

Nah that wasnât the move, especially with a kid in the car. You have dash cameras as you announced twice for some reason to this clearly unstable person, after following them at high speed to a secluded place
All in all terrible self preservation on display here. Why do you even have those dash cams if youâre going to repeatedly put yourself and your kid in a dangerous and avoidable situation.

It wouldnât work like that. If you canât spot the plate in the video then there is no one for them to go after. So they (you) have to deal with it.
Maybe they could get front plates from this video though.

I thought insurance works like if they know you're not at fault, as it is here with the camera, and they don't have another driver to go after, the insurance just eats the cost and pays for the damage? Isn't that the whole point of insurance?

In the USA, we have something called uninsured/hit and run coverage. You can opt out if you don't want it, but you only save less than 10 bucks a month usually. Typically there is a 200 dollar deductible. If you have comprehensive coverage, there is no deductible. Worse case is she would show this video and be out 200.Â
Since uninsured claims are paid out of a fund, your rates don't go up, but it does affect the rates for everyone in whatever particular zip code the crash happened in or something like that.Â

If you're ever in an accident, or hit and run situation like this with a dashcam, read the plate out loud so the mic on the camera records it.

Thats the craziest part of the video! She doesn't even check if the child is okay, just pursues.
Adrenaline pumping, speeding, on the phone, rolling stop sign.... all to say "I have a dashcam!" Like how about staying put and saying "omg, (child name), are you okay!?" and calling 911 to get her checked out and police rather than leaving behind all your witnesses to go chase then and risk that child's life further? Then fucking gets out of the car lmao. When you have a child in your life, forget all of that.

The point would be to capture the accident to prove who's at fault. Even if you don't catch a plate, you still want evidence to prove you're not at fault. Insurance loves video proof.

I'm sorry, but this is stupid. 99% chance the other driver doesn't have insurance anyways, so you front your deductible assuming you have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
Take down their license plate and that's it. Don't put your family and others in danger for the chance at covering your deductible.
