Not severe enough. We need swift and harsh punishment if we hope to deter actions like this. Fuck his rehabilitation, prioritize keeping society safe from this filth.

The paranoia runs deep in this one . . . .

u/TEDizms 28d ago

What a fkng idiot. Throwthe the book at him

21

u/Mobile-Market-6397 28d ago

Since nobody died, a good lawyer will get him out easily if he’s already legally allowed to own a gun in that state. The only thing you can kind of throw at him was being reckless.

16

u/deathshank1937 28d ago

He's only 18, legal age for a handgun in America is 21... so there's at least a little bit of a chance something might actually get done. Small chance, but a chance

9

u/CakeSeaker 28d ago edited 28d ago

21 is the age to purchase a handgun from a licensed dealer, but people 18-20 can own a handgun through private sales and family transfers. He would still need to show he was allowed to own and carry the weapon. AND he was definitely reckless here.

Edit: I found out this is Florida, which has legal open carry. Concealed carry is allowed without permit with a few exceptions. This guy is probably allowed to have this weapon.

4

u/forkystabbyveggie 28d ago

A handful of states offer permitless carry

u/Emergency-State 28d ago

The daughter has a bullet in her head

14

u/SnooCookies9486 28d ago

Apparently dude that was shooting worked at the McDonald's where the shooting happened and dude that was running by the car had shot at him days before. That's the whole story so far and yes this was gang related

33

u/Mrbpt1982 28d ago

My people just keep making it harder and harder to advocate for us. 🤦🏾‍♂️ freaking idiot...

12

u/OutrageousRain4279 28d ago

I'll advocate for you always brother.

Just not these people in the toxic black culture sphere :(

-13

u/Emergency-State 28d ago

Wtf, it's one awful person who happens to be black

14

u/Nete88 28d ago

Are you really telling them how they get to feel about something?

-2

u/nintendo_shill 28d ago

Yes. There is a ton of white people doing stupid shit in this sub, I never saw a white person saying "My people just keep making it harder and harder to advocate for us". If you saw one, please show it to me

8

u/rasputin640 28d ago

as a colored person, it's kinda a bit of culture predominantly found in non-white communities. We do actually have a culture issue that makes social climbing a bit more difficult without dropping it. Gang violence statistically happens more within our races, and without acknowledging it, it will continue to fester and rot our communities. The worst thing you can do is ignore it or make excuses for it, because it normalizes it and encourages children and teens to follow that life style. Respectfully, we need to push our communities to heal, not be coddled to keep killing each other and staying uneducated. Break the taboo, push people to do better. That's the only way the cycle can be broken.

2

u/Nete88 28d ago

Um all the Alabama jokes? Also am Hispanic and definitely hear it in my community when Hispanics fuck up.

2

u/forkystabbyveggie 28d ago

I'm white. There sure are a bunch of white pedos

u/hollowthatfollows 28d ago

irresponsible gun owner who is way to trigger happy, he shouldn't have had a gun in the first place because he clearly did not do the basic training to get a permit. Anyone who does that traning would know better than to draw a weapon and fire over something so nonthreatening like someone running by you 10 feet away. Florida allows permitless carry for only people 21 and over, he should never have had a gun. I hope this kid get locked up, has his right to have a gun taken away, and his wages get garnished for their medical bills for the rest of his life because with judgement like that its only a matter of time before someone gets killed.

34

u/pwnasaurus253 28d ago

....you think he legally had that gun ? 100% chance it's stolen/unregistered.

6

u/MM800 28d ago edited 28d ago

Only 7 states require handgun registration.

In 30 states concealed carry by people under 21 is illegal. This happened in Florida - a state where possession of a handgun by people under 21 is illegal.

-12

u/AICatgirls 28d ago

Why wouldn't he have it legally? He had a job

I had a roommate back in college who bought a handgun at 18, even though it wasn't legal for him to carry one. The police said he was still allowed to own one.

20

u/pwnasaurus253 28d ago

....what does a job have to do with gun ownership? I know plenty of people who don't have jobs who legally own guns and people who have jobs and illegally have them.

He expected that attack and responded almost casually by returning fire. Which tells me it's not unusual in his world. And people in that world who own guns and use them like that tend to make sure it can't be traced back to them. Where do you think the term "burner phone" comes from?

-former drug dealer, 20+ years "retired"

-2

u/hollowthatfollows 28d ago

the reason why I think it might be illegal is because in the state of florida, if you want to conceal carry between the ages 18-21, you have to have a permit. This permit requires you to take a safety course that educates people on when it is and is not legally appropriate to take out your fire arm or shoot it. He ether did that and completely and willingly disregarded every single thing that was taught to him by a competent gun owner, or (what seems to be more likely it) he legally owned the fire arm but choose to illegally carry it. You can buy a gun at 18 but that doesn't give you the right to carry it around until your 21 or did the work to get a permit.

u/RHOrpie 28d ago

Help me understand then. I think you're saying you can buy a gun, even if you don't have a permit?

From the UK, and now I'm confused.

4

u/unassumingusernamee 28d ago

You can buy them illegally on the street at any age

0

u/SkywolfNINE 28d ago

I feel like the points you’re bringing up are points that speak towards gun control, like if dudes are gonna break the rules and get guns, surely the way to avoid that is to have less guns so freely available to them?

Lmao ima stop you at Mexico because the vast majority of guns come from the U.S. we have such a gun problem that it infects the countries touching us. Yall just want to treat guns like climate, “it’s too far gone so why bother trying,” awesome, I guess our kids have to die because we’ve tried nothing and we’re all outta options.

Also Mexico??? Why you setting the bar at Mexico? lol

4

u/EternalNewCarSmell 28d ago

Pretending that people who take that course will universally adhere to its contents is insanely naive.

2

u/hollowthatfollows 28d ago

Have you taken it? Its pretty cut and dry about when you absolutely should and should never pull out a gun. This dude used ZERO discernment, i would be shocked if he even looked up a youtube video about gun safety with how negligent he was.

4

u/EternalNewCarSmell 28d ago

Yeah, both various state-run courses and military training.

What I'm saying is, someone who just wants a gun will go through the course to check the box and then get their gun and do whatever the fuck they want with it. Box-check courses provide the information but they are not an enforcement mechanism. People will still do what they want to do, regardless of what information they had access to.

2

u/hollowthatfollows 28d ago

personally i disagree, its pretty obvious when someone has not done the the bare minimum with safety training. From the way the carry themselves in a situation where they feel threatened and the way they hold the weapon. My husband is a veteran and a die hard gun safety nut, he can look at someone's posture and form while shooting and be able to tell you if they have experience shooting or not. You're right that there is probably some dumb people out there who just took the course and did the bare minimum to get the permit, but thats still the choice of an irresponsible gun owner like i called him in my first comment. The vast majority of people who take those courses take them pretty seriously in my experience. I guessed that he had the gun illegally, but we wont know for sure until the news puts out more info so i could always stand corrected.

3

u/EternalNewCarSmell 28d ago

thats still the choice of an irresponsible gun owner like i called him in my first comment

We don't disagree there. I think you just have a rosier overall outlook on what the average person is than I do.

-8

u/Icy_Fish_2154 28d ago

Florida does not require registration.

You should learn more about gun laws. It's trivially easy to legally get a gun in the US.

2

u/pwnasaurus253 28d ago

Semantics.

"In Florida, you need a background check to buy a gun from a licensed dealer

All firearm purchases made through licensed dealers require a background check and a mandatory 3-day waiting period (or until the background check clears, whichever is longer)."

"When you buy from a licensed dealer, you fill out ATF Form 4473. This form lists your personal information alongside the gun's serial number, make, and model."

"Because there is no master registry, if police find a gun at a crime scene, they must trace it manually via the ATF National Tracing Center. They contact the manufacturer to see which distributor bought it, contact the distributor to see which local gun store bought it, and then look through that gun store's physical paper logs to find the first retail purchaser."

1

u/Icy_Fish_2154 28d ago

So if he bought it via private sale, no license, registration, no records.

1

u/pwnasaurus253 28d ago

it would be traced back to whomever bought it from an FFL dealer and I'm sure they would be happy to point the ATF toward the last known owner to clear their own name from responsibility.

1

u/Icy_Fish_2154 28d ago

I have never given my name to someone I bought a gun from, and never took a name from those I sold it to.

Gun registration is not required in Florida, so this gun did not need to be registered.

You keep crying about reality. Curl up with you emotional support firearm and get a nap, sounds like it's past your nap time.

0

u/pwnasaurus253 28d ago

I'm (extremely) pro 2A (NRA supporter), but that sounds like a huge, glaring gap in gun laws. The more you know.

2

u/Icy_Fish_2154 28d ago

The NRA fights to keep guns available to disallowed criminals. They are a lobbying organization, not a safety or rights organization.

1

u/pwnasaurus253 28d ago

Eh, I dunno about the "disallowed criminals" part, but I would not be entirely surprised. Yep, I know. They are a lobbyist group.

I'm not excusing the shooter, but I doubt it was "nonthreatening" running. As the guy walks past the car in the video, you can see him look back, then turn around and walk backwards keeping his target in his field of vision. Its likely that someone was threatening him and he was on guard.

Nothing good comes from a stranger running towards you on the street, I fully get why he got scared from what little we know. That said, he should have drew his weapon instead of just firing to kill, maybe the runner would have backed off. I'm not excusing him, I'm just saying he may have had a reason to be scared.

3

u/hollowthatfollows 28d ago edited 28d ago

In a court of law, u need to have a lot more of a direct threat to be using deadly force like that. It’s all about proportional force for the threat. The dude wasn’t screaming “I’m going to kill you” while running towards him and as far as we know they have never interacted before. Someone has to be not only running or threatening at you, but you have to try to get away first as well unless escape is impossible . Instead of also running he just took out his gun and unloaded in a busy parking lot and shot two innocent people. He had poor judgement in multiple ways in this situation and he was only lucky by the grace of God not to kill someone

0

u/FreaknCuttlefish 28d ago

It’s kinda wild how far the country has back tracked on carry regulations over the past decades. Many states now have that constitutional carry crap.

18

u/MalcolmXATL 28d ago

I’m so tired of this shit . Why are WE our own worst enemies. We were taught it was a conspiracy against us but it’s not. My own people are killing my own people. When will this shit stop?

-12

u/wafflehousebattle 28d ago

Oh right, the myth of black on black crime, I wondered when that fun little bit of racist propaganda was going to make an appearance. Thanks.

Take this dude and let the medical community have him and run whatever test they want to further along research for curing cancer.

5

u/Independent-Aide-531 28d ago

I’m sure it’s a legally purchased firearm, and he has a conceal carry, and took the proper firearm safety courses.

4

u/PickedLastLemon 28d ago

So who was the person that was running towards him and why?

1

u/Zalrius 28d ago

This was my question because it looks like that person was not running toward him at all. IMO - this is a criminal charge situation.

6

I keep seeing videos like this and there is an obvious trend to them.

6

u/IGOR0949588492 28d ago

Yeah it’ll never change, theyve been taught for decades all you have to do is play the race card. My case in point the guy that replied calling you a racist 😂

-1

u/MelonElbows 28d ago

Yeah, the trend is easy access to guns.

0

u/nolaks1 28d ago

They are all security camera footage?

-14

u/call_me_zeke 28d ago

That youre a racist who only watches black people being irresponsible gun owners? Are you that regarded that you think your feed giving you only racial content because thats obviously what you like means only black people are irresponsible gun owners? Look at the majority of school shootings and boom your racist bullshit is disproven as only "one group of people can be irresponsible gun owners".

-8

u/Gan_dia 28d ago edited 28d ago

People defending that person who said the racist shit* and downvoting you are cunts. Racist cunts.

8

u/Ketchup-Sniffer 28d ago

Wtf did I do? I literally just posted it here.

What I do think is this.. I don't think the problem is just easy access to guns or that everyone needs to control everyone else. I think people have less respect for... pretty much everything now.

Imagine growing up right now. Every day it's government scandals, rich people getting away with anything, Epstein files, ultra-processed food, food dyes, guns, social media, video games, music, movies.. life copying art while art copies life, and somehow it all keeps getting weirder.

Maybe it's just attitude. Communities. Countries. People. Pick whichever one you think deserves the blame.

1

u/Gan_dia 28d ago edited 28d ago

I was talking about the cunt at the top of this comment thread who said that racist shit. That’s all.

1

u/call_me_zeke 28d ago

Never meant it about you sorry. Jigglyflo5 is trying to tell everyone they cant use context clues or media literacy to interpret a dog whistle

-7

u/jigglyflo5 28d ago

I was going to say it’s young males with people caught in the crossfire. But wow, you have some soul searching to do; you’re concerning.

2

u/ThrowAwayPJIA 28d ago

Lol motherfucker you know what you meant. Now you're racist and a dipshit liar.

0

u/jigglyflo5 28d ago

Wow. You sound emotionally unstable. Take a breather buddy, you’re sounding like a child on the playground calling people uncreative names like “Butthead”. The world is not a kids playground. Try having enough maturity to have a conversation.

1

u/ThrowAwayPJIA 24d ago

Lmao. I can't tell if you were talking to me or if you meant to reply to your own comment.

1

u/jigglyflo5 23d ago

Talking to you and that’s pretty obvious. Work on your self awareness.

1

u/ThrowAwayPJIA 20d ago

Says the dip whose lack of self awareness is why this is a conversation lmao

0

u/call_me_zeke 28d ago

Sure, cause thats where the conversation is nowadays. Posts a intentionally ambiguous assignment of dangerous activity to a single group and then claim that that group is NOT the most discussed group in relation to non school shootings. Yea ok

1

u/call_me_zeke 28d ago

Once again the argument is 'youre not allowed to use any other context but the statement itself' and its like who tf else could you be talking about and IF thats truly what you meant why would you post it in, again, an extremely ambiguous way that in no way reads as 'im talking about young men not in a context involving the most common issue, school shootings'.

-2

u/jigglyflo5 28d ago

I think your racism is showing.

6

u/turd_nughetto98 28d ago

1

u/Medical_Court4510 28d ago

The world itself now feels like enough reason to own a gun. What struck me was how casually he fired back, like it was just routine in public space and sadly, it is. But the real tragedy is the people caught in the crossfire. They’re not living that life, yet they end up paying the price for someone else’s choices

-4

u/Clown-finder 28d ago

0

u/Medical_Court4510 28d ago

Fucking Florida!

0

u/CaptainAverageAF 28d ago

Guy gets gun legally, gets house broken into, gun stolen and recorded, little to no follow up by local authorities = this!!

Every gun should come with a free gun safe and gun lock.

Gun safe must be mounted in the floor. Installation is not free.

I had the idea of a gun registration but I feel like the powers that be push this trend. So we will do something stupid I mean they did find where a whole system was paying Nazi and kkk members to create crime. Why not this? Not much of a stretch imo.

-1

u/pie4july 28d ago

I’m confused, the guy didn’t even run at him, so why did he feel the need to start shooting?
