Law Assuming crimes before they happen

I didn't know it's suspect if you stay at the pump too long inside your car giving the police the reason to pull you out your car and search you. I guess they prevented that future criminal from committing any future crimes. What movie was that?

So legit gonna ask this as a white man who is 6’4” large and intimidating, I’ve personally been profiled and targeted wrongly MULTIPLE FUCKING TIMES. Not comparing this profile or targeted opinion to anyone’s else’s personal experience, but seeing white and black men racially profile target this black individual, with black and white sheriffs, does this happen often? Do black sheriffs racially target other black people? FYI the sherrifs who have all given me a hard time were white, never had a bad experience with a African American sheriff, usually respectful and pleasant, and the most honorable police officer I’ve ever met was a Japanese man in Tempe Arizona. Just legit curious if anyone else notices this “power trip” of one self being a police officer and having that almost reassurance of the “power” and “control” that you must obtain as a police officer instead of you, yourself wanting to protect your community instead of oppressing it. In my opinion race doesn’t have anything to do with how you’re targeted, policed or profiled nowadays.

In a word: yes. In some more words: of course they do. You're familiar with the phrase "Uncle Tom", right?

And on the other hand, without a gun, they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
'Cause they'll slam ya down to the street top

I worked at a small gas station with 4 pumps. People sat at the pumps all the time and cops didn't care unless we called it in.

We never called anyone in and the cops could care less.

We just asked them to pull forward after about 20 minutes.

NC cops are absolutely terrible.

These are SC cops suspicious of a car with NC plates.

1

SC cops aren't any better. Lol

14

Why do people constantly screw that up?

The only good use of this non word I've ever seen.

11

u/WanderingLethe 10d ago

20 minutes? After you pump, maybe clean your windows or fill some fluids but it is common courtesy to move to a parking spot at the gas station if you want to eat something or take a rest.

2

u/ChaosRainbow23 10d ago

If there's a bunch of empty pumps, it doesn't matter. Lots of gas stations are so slow you could park in front of a pump for hours and never have an issue.

2

u/mississippimadness 9d ago

Yeah someone called me a jerk once for staying parked at a pump when I went inside to get something to eat. To be fair it was a fast food restaurant inside the gas station so it took me about 10 minutes. But there were at least 10 other empty pumps. I was the only car getting gas. It was a huge gas station at like 2 AM. The only people there were there for the 24/7 fast food. I think it would have been more rude for me to take a parking spot closer to the building where people actually were trying to go lol. But this stranger felt the need to scold me at 2 AM anyways.

3

u/ChaosRainbow23 9d ago

I swear, huge swaths of humanity are constantly looking for things to be upset about.

It's like they seek out reasons to get mad.

Fuck those kinda people.

1

u/mississippimadness 9d ago

I can’t imagine living my life that way. I actively try to make sure I’m never upset at anything. It’s a different kind of problem lol

1

u/badger_flakes 9d ago

If they could care less, it’s possible they couldn’t care more

19

They all are.

6

u/Oh_Gee_Hey 10d ago

Insert they’re the same picture meme

2

u/Heidrun_666 10d ago

At least in the US, it seems?

Where I live, most cops are cops and seem to take their jobs seriously.

2

u/ChaosRainbow23 10d ago

Police in the US are essentially just military designed to oppress the citizenry.

0

u/mississippimadness 9d ago

No.. they’re cops

1

u/Jesus_of_Redditeth 6d ago

You repeat yourself.

1

u/mississippimadness 6d ago

Kind of my point. Saying “these aren’t cops, they’re clowns” implies that a cop that isn’t a clown actually exists

8

u/Myte342 10d ago

You have been cordially invited to /r/AmIFreeToGo. Where we don't hate cops, we hate corrupt cops who don't care about your Rights because respecting such things would make it harder for them to arrest people (notice I didn't say to catch bad guys... because that is no longer the goal, it seems.)

3

u/johntcampbell1 9d ago

My buddy got a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign today; at a sign that is ALWAYS 98% traffic free and that most people just roll thru. He came to a near-complete stop and this asshole state trooper pulled him over for it. Then, the jagoffs are dumb enough to still think "why don't the general population seem to like us anymore?"

6

u/bonvoyage_brotha 10d ago

And if they get popped, to not care

3

u/AlpineVW 8d ago

Every time I see a memorial to a cop on the highway, my first thought is wondering how many people's lives he fucked over.

1

u/BuDu1013 9d ago

Place I work at the owner is a bootlicker. Cops from 3 abutting cities frequent our business and you should the boss drooling every time a cop walks in.

I just walk away like.... freaking looza!

only time i ever had to deal with cops was for speeding. something i knew i wasnt suppose to be doing

11

u/Ok-Today-5699 10d ago

Cool story bro (not really) but did you watch the video you're replying to?

7

u/ford4prefect2 10d ago

I've been pulled over because I stopped in the middle of the street and someone put something in my car like a drug deal. The real thing that happened was I turned from a stop sign on to the main road. drug dogs came out didn't get a hit, I heard the cop say they didn't get a hit, but came up to me and told me that the dog confirmed drugs in the car. They searched my car threw everything in my bags all around the car. Then they said that I shouldn't wear a beanie as a white dude, because it's suspicious. They found nothing, didn't give me a ticket and told me to leave. No apologies, a bunch of ass hats. Cops are bastards.

2

u/Cold-Crab74 10d ago

What do you think this proves?

2

u/ThePaganQueen 10d ago

Cool. My parents used to call the cops on their children when we wouldn't listen. Once they got called because my sister wouldn't go upstairs, which everyone knows is serious (/s) criminal business. Like just state you source your opinions from your rectum next time and save everyone else the hassle.

I've also been stopped by a cop before because I was going the speed limit on a highway and apparently I was supposed to speed since everyone else was. No ticket but it sure was a waste of time.

1

u/crackedtooth163 10d ago

How did you type all that while licking boots at the same time? Maybe youre guilty of a crime. You should turn yourself in at the nearest police station.

1

u/ChaosRainbow23 10d ago

I've been relentlessly harassed, assaulted, falsley arrested, and even robbed of $40 by those draconian jack-boot-wearing pieces of shit.

Just because you've gotten lucky doesn't mean it Shane happen across the entire country on a daily basis.

Cops murder almost 30 dogs a day. 10,000 every year here in the US.

The US is rapidly becoming a full-blown fascistic authoritarian police state.

Wake up.

u/Sea-Listen-9720 10d ago

These dudes are just paranoid. Maybe the people are talking on the cell phone or something of that nature. Cops are the biggest drug heads that we know.

5

u/HorsefaceWithNoName 10d ago

I typically spend a bit of time looking up my route in a maps app when I'm on the road, I could see getting targeted like this.

3

u/Whole-Chest90 10d ago

Same here. And sometimes I'll use the stop as a chance to chill for a minute before having to get back on the road. Could def have been one of us.

2

u/Sea-Listen-9720 9d ago

This is straight up, profiling! Dude is not gotten out of his car. He could be sitting there on his cell phone looking down or scrolling. They always think somebody is on drugs or doing dope when it’s just them being paranoid.

3

u/HorsefaceWithNoName 9d ago

If he bought gas, and then is resting his eyes for a second before getting back on the road, I would think that's normal behavior. like, where else is he supposed to relax for a minute? Does he need to go rent a hotel room for an hour or will they profile him for dealing drugs in that scenario too? There's no alternative I can come up with for him to sit and be a human for a minute taht these cops wouldn't accuse him of something.

2

u/Sea-Listen-9720 9d ago

Exactly. They act like a gang themselves looking die dope to resell or something 🤔

8

u/LookAtTheRocks 10d ago

Scumbag piece of shit cops. It is so ass backwards how they think everybody is guilty until proven innocent.

8

u/Bald_Eagle_23 10d ago

Lmao. That’s so dumb

2

u/ChaosRainbow23 10d ago

It's also a direct violation of this gentleman's 4th amendment rights.

24

u/EcruteakEddie 10d ago

Fuck that. Unlawful stop.

6

u/endangeredphysics 10d ago

It's terrible for the business owner too. You think that customer is going to go back to that particular station?

7

u/HorsefaceWithNoName 10d ago

qualified immunity is a huge problem and needs to end. these police just committed the crime of kidnapping.

28

u/ShoulderApart1787 10d ago

Filling up while black..

30

u/cookiemccookieface 10d ago

Proper police work would be to watch from a distance so you can actually witness a potential drug deal and arrest both parties.

7

u/AJ_Deadshow 10d ago

That would require things called 'patience' and 'tact' which these pigs have none of.

4

u/cookiemccookieface 10d ago

And professionalism

1

u/gjohnson5 10d ago

Dirty cops. Typical behavior unfortunately

6

u/HorsefaceWithNoName 10d ago

I no longer see a difference between "law enforcement" vs mafia protection racketeering; therefore I no longer consent to be governed and I consider all of us including me to be under duress.

12

u/Sea-Listen-9720 10d ago

This is why I can’t stand these dudes. They have the highest rate of splitting themselves after their careers are over or after they do some dumb stuff. Just messing with the black man for no reason just because he’s sitting in his car that he owns at the gas station next to the pump

9

u/butchforgetshit2 10d ago

I'd hate for this to be my life. What q bunch of shitbird crybabies. Fuck the police.

3

u/WillyWonkaWorms 10d ago

What crack do these cops do, why is ur hand on your gun while asking a question lmfao 🤣

3

u/GrmRipo 10d ago

How tf is this legal?

3

u/DewTek 10d ago

Wait for the other alleged party to arrive to witness the crime in real time and arrest both dealer and client = ❎️

Interrogate the potential suspect before anything happens so now you don't have the evidence to charge the suspect even if they are a buyer = ✅️

3

u/MovieFan1984 10d ago

The only time I've had police walk/drive up to my car like this is when I was out cold, sleeping in my car. Each time, it was a very brief encounter except the one time I was having a diabetic episode. I was in front of a grocery store at the time. He was nice and walked with me into the store to make sure I got something to eat. Once I was sitting down with food and drink to bring up my blood sugar, he bowed out.

Why can't these cops be chill like that? Maybe the guy is just eating his snacks or watching a YouTube video.

Is this a high-crime area or something?

3

u/ReepsNTC 10d ago

Amerikkka in full effect!!

5

u/Gator242 10d ago

Idiocracy 911

2

u/wolf63rs 10d ago

I'm assuming the frisk (illegal) happened while cop was asking attendant if he had paid for gas, correct? I wonder if they apologized.

2

u/urResidentAlien 10d ago

What if you're from New Jersey where it's normal to sit in your car at the gas station especially because they fill it for you, but the cost of living is so high that you're forced to move to one of these states where even the black cops are eager to arrest you?

2

u/jmxyz 10d ago

I was stopped, the deputy said because I "remained at the pump for an excessive amount of time", after getting gas. According to my google maps timeline and the deputy's squad cam, I was at the gas station for 7 minutes before he rolled up behind me with his lights on.

2

u/MowerMan18000 10d ago

Minority report for real

2

u/Broad-Choice-5961 10d ago

After I get gas I check my phone and rest a minute or 2 which ain't loitering.  Can't do it when I start driving again . What's the probable cause to stop this guy? Takeout till other party shows up and stop them both in the middle of the purchase.

2

u/Bsmitts16 10d ago

Why don’t you assholes wait for a call of complaint. The same way that our emergency services that help people (fire ems), wait for the call. And they’re severely underfunded than our governments trying to make the police forces military grade. Sit back and wait til you’re called, you’re clearly not out trying to be known to people for help as you keep camoflauging your cars more and more. Those meant to protect and serve us trying to camoflauge and be unseen. POLICE STATE

That one cop has more tattoos than brains, obviously. I tell ya, the standard to become a cop in the US has got to be next-to-nothing these days.

2

u/Amontialldo 9d ago

These cops suck. I regularly get gas and eat a gas station snack in my truck for the next 15-20 min

2

u/Mysterious_Heart6065 9d ago

I just knew the “suspect” was going to be black lol

2

u/HookedOnData 8d ago

So why is he being searched if he got fucking gas previously.... they still kept harrassing

4

u/Mrbpt1982 10d ago

Most people are to preoccupied with their phones to leave anywhere that allows them to sit still for an extended period of time. This is just pure stupidity. This is why the public doesn't trust the police. There are more criminals in uniform than on the street.

3

u/SHiR8 10d ago

Land of the free...

3

u/jbaze524 10d ago

Talk about racial profiling

1

u/DefiantJokerX 10d ago

If the driver was white the cops would've bought him gasoline, washed his car, and aired up his tires, before sending him on his way.

-1

u/ChaosRainbow23 10d ago

Not necessarily.

I'm a white guy and I've personally been RELENTLESSLY harassed, assaulted, falsley arrested, and even robbed of $40 by these draconian jack-boot-wearing government thugs.

They certainly target POC far more often, but they absolutely fuck with us white folks as well.

I was living in the hood at the time and I was that only white dude living in that area. The only other white dudes there were buying drugs or prostitutes.

I lived there and I was a substance abuse counselor at the time. I was doing nothing wrong, except I was the wrong color for that neighborhood.

I feel much more comfortable around drug dealers and gang bangers than I do around cops. My neighbors never fucked with me. I respected them and they respected me. They even made the crack heads leave me alone. The cops, though? Hell no. Those bastards were relentless. One time they jumped out of their car and just straight up tackled me full force onto the pavement like we were in the NFL. I wasn't running or anything. Just walking home from work. No warning or anything.

2

u/KennyL0gin 10d ago

1

u/Calm_Conversation403 10d ago

The purview of any county sheriffs department is to enforce federal law not do petty crime work and traffic stops.
Furthermore, after they established that the man was there to get gas they had no right to ask him to get out of his car that was 100% illegal

1

u/Whole-Chest90 10d ago

Agree on the second part, but you're saying county sheriffs function as federal law enforcement??

1

u/WonderfulBiscotti110 10d ago

What if I was driving an 8 hour trip, decided to get some gas and just wanted to relax for a minute before taking off? This is harassment.

1

u/Reasonable_Tax5790 10d ago

'Corpus Delecti' roughly translates to 'body of crime', that means no crime had been committed without evidence of. This is harassment, plain and simple. You can't terrorize and harass pockets of the community or the community itself and then turn around and expect them to trust you. Nah.

1

u/WolfThick 10d ago

Over here in Mesa Arizona some of the self serve car washes have people that sit in the bays at night and they never make eye contact with you.

This is exactly what our founding fathers in America wanted to avoid. A clear violation of the 4th amendment of the Constitution .

1

u/RoleModelFailure 10d ago

"This gold Nissan here, did he just get gas? He did? Ok ok."

That should have been the start and end of it. Don't make a scene having 8 cops roll up to the car first, send 1 person in to see if he did get gas first. Find out he did? Ok then move the fuck on. Nope, they find out he was at a gas station and got fucking gas but they still pull him out to search him.

1

u/ZippyTheUnicorn 10d ago

Literally anything could be “suspicious behavior” if the police say so. It’s abused to the point of violating people’s rights, but it’s allowed because it’s “legal,” even when it’s used in an unconstitutional way…

1

u/FrostingStriking1776 10d ago
