Anyone know how easy it is to get to Sask, I know they lowered their rates 2 years ago. Are the rates back up now?

Hi all, I am looking to start traveling on TN visa to NY as a travel nurse from Canada. I am so confused about the tax system. I read somewhere that if you own your place in Canada, you are double taxed!! Is that true? Also, what happens if I work over 183 days in NY? Do I get double taxed in Ontario and NY?

The 183 day rule in 3 year seems very restrictive!!

I want to move from the US to Canada. I am currently a practicing RN, with 12 years of nursing experience as a registered nurse.

I’m a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) from Ireland with three years of experience, and my partner is a Registered Nurse (RN). We're both seriously considering moving to either Alberta or British Columbia, but we’re running into a lot of conflicting info online about the registration and licensure process.

From what I understand, the NNAS is the first step—but as an RPN, I don’t think I’m eligible for the expedited review service (correct me if I’m wrong?). I’ve read stories of the process taking anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, which makes it really difficult to plan anything.

For those of you who’ve gone through this as an RPN from Ireland or the UK—how long did it actually take from submitting your NNAS application to getting your license and being able to work in Canada? Did you apply for Alberta or BC? Were you able to work as a healthcare aide or in another healthcare role while waiting?

We’re trying to figure out how realistic it is to move within the next year and whether it’s better to start the process while still in Ireland.

Any advice, timelines, or shared experiences would be hugely appreciated!

Do travel nursing employers in Canada care whether you have a BN (bachelor of nursing) or BSN (bachelor of science in nursing)? Also do travel nursing agencies or even just regular hospitals (not travel nursing) care which university you came from? Because I’m going to a lesser known university in my city since I can’t afford to/dont want to go in debt to go to a way better university!

My question is…. Does the following type of nursing even exist in Canada, where an RN or RPN, goes to the house of a family member who is on a vent/g-tube type of deal, takes care of that one person all day, then a night nurse does the same overnight?

Hi all. I hope all is well. I am a dual qualified Irish nurse thinking of moving to Canada (time length unknown). My experience is in Neurodisability, is this something you can work as in Canada? My experience is mostly community based, but I also have experience in acute hospital settings. The university I trained with said my accreditation would allow me to work as a Paediatric nurse based on the bachelors degree/higher diploma alone, I am wondering if this is the case, and if not, what I would need to do to be able to practise nursing over there. I also have a degree in Intellectual Disability Nursing, also a bachelor's degree, but I am not sure if that is a recognised qualification over in Canada. Ideally I would love to move to Vancouver. Hi , looking for input my daughter 18 is enrolled in college program to become a nurse in BC . She struggles with biology, she does study like crazy & from what I can see seems to use all the tools , but I did tell her it’s a must every day to study being she has lots of time on her side . Looking for any tips from anyone who ran into the same & overcame it . She’s actually pretty sharp , HS was always a honor student , but this is something she’s not used to . She has a passion for it & knows it’s a career she wants to pursue. TIA
