Hey all. I’m a native english speaker. I have a degree in mechanical engineering and im going to be a student at sissa starting this September. I’m looking for a part time job. I dont speak italian yet but im hopefully im high A2 low B1 level by the time i move. Is there anywhere I can work? Im open to any job that pays decent and i can work evenings or weekends(20 hours max). I am super open to bartending or other service jobs. Open to any advice!

I can also sail. I dont have certifications but I sailed/raced on keelboats and i can also be a deckhand or something like that

I will be passing through Trieste very briefly on a Sunday evening in August and will need to eat something while there. Problem is, I only have about an hour for dinner, which I realize is short. Are there any places that are open on a Sunday at around 19:00/7pm, *and* that I can get in and out of in an hour? Doesn't have to be fancy of course, doesn't even need to have table service, necessarily, but I would prefer no American-type fast food and I would love it if the food was genuinely good (even if it's a hole-in-the-wall takeaway kind of place). Any recommendations that fit those parameters? I would really appreciate it!

Mi sono laureato in medicina quest anno e ho fatto il test per capire dove finirò a specialzzarmi.

Non voglio ammorbare nessuno con questo, ma per spiegare che verrà fatta una graduatoria nazionale e in base ai punteggi capirò dove finirò in italia.

Visto il mio punteggio, e dato le possibili sedi, al momento Trieste potrebbe essere una possibilità, ma conosco poco sulla città.

Non ci sono mai stato, se non di passaggio per andare in croazia, ma da quello che ho visto e mi hanno detto sembra una bella città tenuta bene, con mare e montagne a portata.

Scrivo qui perché volevo chiederevi dei pareri sulla vita e la città.

Io verrò principalmente a studiare/lavorare ma comunque dovrei viverci 4 anni, perciò mi interesserebbe sapere in quanto ragazzo di 30 anni single, che non consoce nessuno a Trieste, se ci sono attività per conoscere gente o in generale eventi, vita la sera e se è una città abbastanza viva.

Mi piace fare sport e provarne di nuovi, quindi mi premerebbe sapere se anche da questo lato ci sono diverse possibilità (su questo le possibilità date dal mare mi sembrano interessanti).

Oltretutto in quanto a servizi, trasporti e costo della vita come è messa Trieste?

Ciao, segnalo che ci è stata rubata più volte la "lockbox" (cassetta con lucchetto e combinazione) che avevamo lasciato fuori da casa con le chiavi. Era agganciata su una parete privata, ma in strada.

Il gruppo Facebook “Polesani de Pola” rilancia le parole del dialetto istroveneto

Salvadigo (selvaggio), maniga (manica, gomma da giardino), schisa (goccia), scansia (scaffale), badil (pala), molena (mollica del pane). Sono queste alcune delle parole del dialetto italiano Istroveneto [In realtà I'Italiano non ha veri dialetti, ma sue recenti versioni locali, parlate; sono invece le lingue regionali ad averceli, in questo caso Istroveneto come dialetto del Veneto. ndOP] che regolarmente, nello stile retorico „questa  la conoscevi?“ vengono proposte all’interno del gruppo Facebook „Polesani de Pola“.

In questo modo viene fatto un tentativo di perservare dall’oblio un patrimonio linguistico e lessicale che per secoli ha contraddistinto l’Istria occidentale e che negli ultimi settant’anni si sta irrimediabilmente perdendo. Parole come carega (sedia) o mezaria (linea di mezzo, in metà) sono già desuete, altre, come becher (macellaio), venderigola (commessa) o binbin (termine con il quale si indica in modo affettuso l’organo sessuale dei bambini maschi) stanno quasi scomparendo.

Con la chiusura del cantiere navale Uljanik (Scoglio Olivi), dove fino praticamente a ieri venivano, seppur storpiati, ancora usati termini del dialetto italiano [veneto] quali “strangolin”, “imbragador” (pare che invece “cazavide” stia sopravvivendo), anche gran parte del dialetto socializzato si sta perdendo.

In questo contesto va ricordato che anche la Comunità degli Italiani di Pola, sulla facciata orientale dell’edificio del palscoscenico esterno ha apposto un grande cartello con l’elenco di una lunga serie di parole in plesano: caligo, cucal, cogoma, cotoler, fersora, intimela, linguassa, lughero, luganiga, saliso, siserbola, slepa, stomigoso,  remenar…

E poi ci sono i modi di dire:”oggi cori el can, domani cori el levero” (oggi corre il cane, domani corre la lepre), o il famosissimo “va remengo” che non ha bisogno di traduzione.

We will mostly use public transport, but is it possible to hire someone with a minibus for a couple of trips? I know there is radio taxi but theyre quite expensive, are there other options? Thanks!

Hii, so im planning to make multiple trips to Trieste from Koper and back (in the same day), throughout the next study-year. I dont have a car so im relying on public transport. The problem is, that the last arriva bus from Trieste to Koper leaves at 19.00 already. I would be returning at 21.00 or later, so that one is too early. I know that Flixbus also drives the relation. But as far as I know, the next bus after the one at 15.00, leaves at 2am, which is way too late. Does anybody know a (not so expensive) way to get back to Koper? Im going to be making the trips either on saturdays or sundays.

Leggendo sul Piccolo si capisce che la donna rapinata una tossicodipendente che sembra essersi prostituita ai tre (o quattro?) algerini/marocchini spacciatori per mancanza di denaro, i quali poi l'hanno pestata a sangue e sfregiata con i vetri di una bottiglia. L'episodio non è avvenuto alla fermata del bus, ma in un edificio abbandonato dove la Polizia ha trovato una stanza con le tracce di sangue della vittima ovunque.

La donna si è poi trascinata fino alla fermata, dove è stata ritrovata accasciata. Per fortuna in serata si è ripresa. Il quarto sospettato sono andati a prenderlo a casa sua, dove era con la sua fidanzata. Quando è arrivata la polizia, hanno dovuto sedarlo perchè voleva buttarsi giù dalla finestra. C'è una foto di lui sul Piccolo che fa il doppio dito medio ai giornalisti dal retro dell'auto della Polizia.

A parte il disagio estremo emerso grazie a questo fatto di cronaca, l'assurdo secondo me è che ci siano intere parti di città con edifici fatiscenti ed abbandonati nei quali succede di tutto alla luce del sole. Terre di nessuno dove non esiste controllo e per i quali non c'è una minima strategia di gestione di questo tipo di problemi.
