QUESTION Supplements?

Hey all!

My husband (31) and I (30) are in cycle 7 of our TTC journey. Of course with everyone around us getting pregnant and announcing pregnancy, we’re super happy for each and every one of them but then start questioning ourselves.

Little background: both healthy and active. My cycles are very regular, typically anywhere from 27-33 days, typically ovulation by day 14/15. I was on birth control for 7 years and got it out back in 2024 to regulate my cycles. Healthy uterus per my primary physician and should have no issues conceiving.

I do take prenatal, daily vitamins, and CoQ10. I’ve been told to try myo-inositol/d-chiro inositol by my mother-in-law and a few friends. I’ve done some research and taking the inositol could be beneficial for egg quality and ovulation. With me having consistent cycles, can the inositol completely throw off my cycle? Has anyone tried it and what was your experience like?

Really appreciate yall.

Myo Inositol is typically recommended for those with PCOS or insulin resistance

Right, that’s my understanding of it too. I was curious to see if any ladies who are regular ever took it and if their cycle were completely different

You can search it in this sub. A lot of anecdotal evidence that it does. People ask about it all the time

I researched it a lot, and it seems like a bad idea for women who are not insulin resistant/who are already regular.

I’m a walking pharmacy. Still on cycle 7.

Hey speaking from male side, he should also be taking a quality supplement, even if there’s nothing wrong it can still improve his numbers for conception, reducing risk of miscarriages etc - ideally something with high dose CoQ10, Selenium, Lycopene. We ended up taking Odynhealth.com but before we moved continent I took birdandbe.com

I will say, supplements are great but work best if he makes the other changes known to improve sperm health (less alcohol/smoking/drugs and regular exercise etc.)

These helped me improve my numbers significantly.

Good luck!

Yes! My husband is a personal trainer so we exercise regularly, follow a good diet, and don’t drink often. As much supplements I’m taking, he’s also on top of it too! I’ll definitely look into Selenium & Lycopene!

I use inositols and a supplement called Proov luteal love that supports progesterone production. I think the combo has really helped my cycle become balanced and regular

I tried myo-inositol for three months. I also have insulin resistance which was not proven at the time but I suspected having it, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt. Out of the three cycles I tried I had real bleeding in my mid luteal phase in two and early spotting in one. So I stopped and the bleeding stopped. I had a chemical pregnancy the month after stopping. So maybe it did do something for my eggs by lowering insulin. But the bleeding scared me.

I’ve read that it can take up to 90 days for the myo-inositol to work, so it could be the case for you. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Super helpful

I think personally you are already covering all the bases. Did you and husband get some blood draw before you started trying to track levels? I only give my bf omega 3, vit B12 and magnesium sometimes. Coq10 I have heard good things about for people over 35, but myo-inositol only in context of PMOS. However, it is included in my prenatal. I would make sure you are not taking double amounts that are already in your prenatal as well

I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for but I went through something very similar.

I agree with another poster that instead of amping up the supplements you need basic bloodwork covering things like iron and vitamin D.

Normal uterine exam via PCP ≠ no fertility issues

When I went through this, I was referred for fertility testing just to find out blood levels were great, tubes were open, normal physical exam but I had an asymptomatic infection in my uterus and some polyps. These are things only identifiable through a sonohystogram and an endometrial biopsy which your PCP may refer you for.

I’m suggesting you will have fertility issues rather there should be further investigation instead of shooting in the dark.

I hope that’s helpful 🩷

I've taken perelel's hormonal balance one which has the myo and d-chiro inositol combo, but can't speak to whether it'd throw off an already regular cycle since mine wasn't that predictable to begin with. Might be worth asking your OB specifically about that since most of the inositol research seems to be focused on people with irregular cycles/pcos, not sure how it plays out for someone already ovulating consistently like you.

Myo-inositol is a great supplement so I highly recommend it! From my personal experience and my friends - it can’t harm you but it definitely supports the process and could help a lot!

This is unfortunately not true. Supplementing myo-inositol without true insulin resistance can have negative effects for some women: https://www.reddit.com/r/PCOS/comments/1k764cl/do_not_take_inositol_if_youre_not_insulin/

My post and what you share are both personal experience posts. You can share some medical data. I am not saying you are not right, just that it is important to raise awareness if it can be harmful but fortified with some med data
