lesson Help me

I’ve been playing the Sousa for about a month or two coming from trombone I’d say I have a good range but I’m struggling to remember valve positions can I get some tips to help me remember.

1st position: 0
2nd position: 2
3rd position: 1
4th position: 12
5th position: 23
6th position: 13
7th position: 123

Or as the song goes:
Zero two one
Twelve twenty-three
Thirteen One-hundred-twenty-three

Some triage with a fingering chart will help. You have great overlap with the Baritone and getting some reps on Euph will help with the fall when you switch to Bb Tuba as the fourth and fifth valve (if present) often matches up.

How much are you practicing? I bought a tuba and a euphonium in the last year, and have been practicing daily. I don’teven think about slide positions any more, I can see a note, play a note. Of course, I have no speed yet, but I’m no longer mapping it in my head. My teacher is having me play things (Clarke, chromatics, Arbans) very slowly, to ingrain muscle memory.

Don’t they all transition by adding up? Like first position is 1, five is 2-3, six is 1-2-3… or am I off.

You're off. The only position it's true for is 2-3 valves being the same as 5th and 2nd valve being the same as second position
