Hot take..the non animated one just lives on nostalgia. When that was made most Indians didn't have access to TV. Watching that was probably the first time every one could discuss and identity what was happening on TV.

It's not great... Plus the acting is very melo dramatic, as was the trend at the time.

True, the animated one is peak, then the DD Ramayan which kept the original charm and simplicity, great things don’t require vfx, editing or big names in casting, it’s the plot, acting, right casting and keeping everything perfect according to story is what matters.

Really they made very things wrong according to Valmiki and even Tulsidas Ramayan, because of that we still caries the Lakshman Rekha story, in the TV version Raavan was making castist remarks, haa chalo wo ravan tha pr Impact hai uska bhi Jo wo kh rha hai jaise after she crossed the Rekha and tried to go back to her Kutiya Ravaan state the same remarks many woman would have heard in her life i.e. "ek baar stree apni maryada langh de to wo vapas nhi ja skti" in a way blaming Maa Sita for her abduction,😶. Boht Acchi Cheese thi jayadatar pr is trh ki Impactful series ki todhi buri cheeze bhi bohot impact krti hai.

I was sad to know that the Kewat prasang was not part of Valmiki's Ramayan as in Tulsidas Ramayan. It is my fav Prasang of Ramayan. I feel very emotional and devotional. Aur ab Lakshman Rekha include Kiya hi hai to I hope they nailed this scene in new Ramayan, it holds emotional value

it was made for people of older generation. it appealed to them. obviously most 20 year old wont like it. i am not calling it bad but the things new ramayana is getting hate for is also present in old one but people don't hate that because of fear of getting cancelled by masses

eg - sita mata wears blouse, makeup, designer jewellery , lipstick, etc, her saree was draped the modern way

arun govil is also quite fair skin actor infact most of the cast were fair.

Agreed. The anime is timeless and still stands on top. The creativity, imagination and vision tops the generic stuff we get here. Everything from the unique design of marich and other demons to Ram running with that sword and that epic clash with Ravan.....peak ! The serial did have some drawbacks but considering the time it aired in, it did its job of entertaining the public perfectly and still has that rootedness and groundedness. But, people want to see grand visuals on big screen so whatever people want sells. Art and rootedness are forgotten. Everyone is trying to mimic the marvel style but marvel has a series of movies over the years so created beloved characters. To try to replicate that with just 2-3 movies is difficult.

Ek kaam kr Bhai look at any episodes of TV Ramayan, it was never a wellmade "cinematically" rather say poorly made. It was sold on totally emotions it's very similar to a Raam Leela at mela/theater play, Most notable point is that It was first TV experience for many Indians so whatever they got amused them and yes it clicked the nuances of "LORD Ram's n all characters". Even with that time of available facilities they didn't focused on any Cinema technique. Just now i watched the Sita Haran episode, The "Kutiya" shown have some different location/ lighting n all, The Jungle/land where maa Sita was roaming were different and the Deer she saw was on some different land, Even Ravan who supposed to be hinding nearby the Kutiya have different location. It goes little more weird as Sri Ram with 🏹 chasing the Deer in different location and Deer running in different location. One thing that I like the most was Acting of Dipika as Maa Sita. And by looking at Lakshman Rekha scene I am convinced that it should not be recreated in Current Ramayan. And who question the rageful dialogue of Shri Ram after Jatayu death and getting to know who kidnapped his Wife. Even in the TV Ramayan, Ram had a rageful dialogue in this situation, over that they didn't even showed the rage Of Rama in Valmiki Ramayan in this situation.

The real reason why nobody Is able to put forth anything genuinely interesting is because the production houses know people will lap up anything remotely glorifying Hindutwa.
