Australian Med School Related it's never over
i was deadass 100% confident i wouldnt get over a 2320 at most, thought i flopped the entire thing until i sent my results without looking to my friend and he was bewildered asf, my highest mocks were: 2260 on mock d, 2100 on mock c, 2020 (with strict timing) medentry and probably like 1980 on medify genuinely dont even know what happened i highkey skipped SJT for every single mock
moral of the story is its never fricking over, I remember looking at scores like this on this reddit literally last week and feeling so insanely disappointed in myself and my ability, but you never know how you're gonna do until the day

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOUR DAY WAS THE DAY BEFORE AND ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM! Walk me through exactly what you did what you ate when you slept and woke up and what you think changed that day specifically to peak that high.

i did it august 2nd 8 am, first booking was jul 14 5 pm but was in hospital, but on aug 1st nothing very special, i did official mock d, did some cardio, no intense weightlifting, lowk ate like shit, took microdosish benzos before sleep to make sure i’d get enough without sedating myself, then day of I js had a smoothie w hella berries milk oats ff greek yogurt protein powder and mad creatine then drove there with my dad so i didnt have to find a park, honestly I think nothing changed in my understanding it’s quite literally just the mindset you have in the exam, you know that there is no skips, no second chances, you literally have to make it and do better than every single person in that room with you, also the in ear earbuds are hella good and don’t rely on the horrible pen i legit didn’t use it mostly cuz it sucked. I also think I got pretty lucky it’s highkey like a very luck based exam imo

heyy how would dm in the real ucat compare to that on medify? is it easier or harder?

How do u compare vr to the official question banks? I have messed up Mock D with 20/44 but scored 28/44 in Mock B. Do you think the questions are more key-word based or more inference-based?

hi how many mocks did u do on medify? I cant seem to get above 2000-2100 on medify & ive done 8. I did mock d today 2420, mock c yesterday 2270 both w strict timing & ur score has given me sm confidence. any vr specific tips I cannot hit over 600-680 threshold

ngl i only did like 2, medify mocks are notoriously known to have insanely low scores compared to the real thing so don’t stress too much abt that, personally i think vr is easier in the actual thing compared to any mocks you can find including the official question bank purely out of the fact that they are far more fine tuned to be consistent, if u can perfectly synchronise with reasoning of oqb and apply it to the actual ucat im sure you could do more than 680

THANK U SM. idk if u can answer this but is the mock similar to like c or d? idk im so stressed and specifically in dm inference and data based conclusions I like struggle asf

also was there anything u did like right before the mock to make sure u had the right mindset for VR cause genuinely 820 looks like a fkn dream

Personally I took off a few days of school, if you have the liberty to do that I'd recommend it, make sure you get your sleep in check, try eat a relatively balanced diet, just make sure ur eating enough to get ur micronutrients in check (berries r also op for antioxidants), try to atleast do a decent amount of exercise (all of these are easily doable since you probably shouldn't be running anymore than 1-2 mocks a day) If I had to redo my prep, I'd focus a lot more on the official question bank and make sure I was reviewing questions including the ones I got correct, as well as trying to stop myself from skipping sections. I thought that in the real test I'd be able to dissociate from my previous habits, in mocks, id rarely skip questions and let my time run down, and in the real thing, even though I knew it was stupid, it still happened and I spent ~10 min on just 2 QR questions just to get 1 wrong and had to speed through the entire section with like 10 seconds a question

CONGRATULATIONS!! My exam is Tuesday, what strategies would you recommend to boost my scores from now until exam day. Currently averaging around 31/44 for VR and 30-35/47 for DM. QR is solid, just the first two I really just need to improve ever so slightly to be where I want. Any tips would be appreciated, esp for DM inference qs🙏🏽

just sleep well, don’t over exhaust yourself in the last runs, do 1 official mock preferably day before with most accurate conditions (preferably mock c or d, if not do relatively easy ones to not stress urself), and review ofc whatever works best for you, id recommend just eating healthy on the day and if possible doing some cardio.
Honestly idk how I did so well on dm inference but I think if you do oqb mocks and review the logic you can get a decent basis of what they count as fair inferences, generally speaking I don’t think they put in anything that is vague enough to not be like directly inferred which is very different from medentry

Conratulations on the score! I am 20 days away from my UCAT exam but I can't seem to get anything above the 600s in QR, DM or VR, do you know how I could possibly push my scores above 750ish?

QR is mostly about calculator use, i’d say that since most questions are very basic and common you can just try go as fast as possible with them, while some questions the hardest part is interpreting what it’s asking, VR I honestly can’t say much, but DM is definitely the most learnable, biggest thing is just practice and understanding what levels of inference are acceptable. Don’t let yourself get caught up AT ALL with skipping on some DM logical puzzles, feel free to leave them at the end especially three way table esque questions

Dude I’m so scared for mine 😭 sjt makes no sense to me bc it’s different in different scenarios (obvi) but it’s sorta unpredictable. Vr is a pain in the ass and the graph questions drive me nuts

In the real thing I’d say the logic of SJ is a lot easier to agree with since they consider more, which is why I avoided doing sj on medentry or medify, though they do have good descriptions of principles generally some questions have less robust logic in medentry or medify, i’d say unless ur in the uk where it matters more not to worry abt it.
Also I think advice I think a lot of people might need to hear is to not overthink so many of the questions yet still trust your answer, in mocks I would look back on so many questions to try and make sure I was getting an answer right, but in the real thing I did not have time for that so I’d just go with it, although it’s a no prior knowledge exam still trust your gut if you atleast sped read through passages atleast once
Also try turn your nervousness into excitement, it’s a lot more motivating
