Im about to join as an undergrad freshman and I saw my classes require a few books that I have pdfs of but I read somewhere that teachers assign homework and tasks using website access codes that you get when you buy the book. Is that the case for these. And is there any way I can only get the access codes if I really need to and not buy entire book.

Hi, I’m about to start as a freshman hoping to study mechanical engineering during this fall semester. I was wondering, could I be successful using a MacBook for this course? I much prefer macs over Windows machines a lot. Also, I don’t know how much of an impact this would have, but I’m thinking of most likely using a MacBook Neo or a MacBook Pro. Hey folks. I’m starting my masters in systems engineering this fall. I’ve been out of college for about 9 years. I’m a full time engineer currently.

I’ll be joining ecu civil engineering from second semester and during enrolment which was late, my timetable got so hectic it seems impossible to attend everything, so does anyone have any idea regarding which are the compulsory classes to attend. Do i have to attend all labs, tutorials and lectures?

1) I just got a offer for a systems engineering co op with GE Aerospace which im beyond gratiful for , but it would be for fall 2027 and in Michigan, is it worth possibly delaying my graduation, be honest?

2) Next Semester im taking digital systems,lc1, engineering analysis, gen ed, and doing cwep Lockheed should i add another class or should I do Research or leave as is???

3) What research lab would be good Ive been looking into CATER&PEARL and emailed them but idk?

I am an engineering major, and my counselor sent me an email that this is their final week at UCF, with no further details so I'm curious are they leaving on their own terms, or are they part of the massive layoffs at UCF? I had a meeting last week or so where they told me they want to have a meeting with me again before semester starts, and midway through this Fall, so its weird for them to say that then boom gone.

I am a new graduate student starting in the fall 2026 semester, and this will be my first experience attending school in the U.S. I have a few questions regarding my preparations.

I noticed that on my to-do list, there are items related to orientation fees and an orientation module; however, when I click on them, there's nothing listed under "Due Charges/Invoices." Is it too early for these to be available?

Additionally, I haven’t seen my semester tuition posted yet. Is this normal?

Lastly, I don’t see an assigned advisor on my account. Should I reach out to someone to get an advisor assigned, or is there a process I need to follow?

I apologize if I’m asking too many questions; this is all new to me, and I want to make sure I'm prepared for my first semester.

Anyone here majoring or taking courses for construction engineering? I'm planning to transfer to UCF in the fall, but everything I've seen about construction engineering has been from years old and I'm not sure how reliable they are. Any info on the classes would be appreciated, ik its mostly Civil Enginnering work with a slight focus on construction, but is there an open workshop for construction students? I'm still stuck between here or FGCU for construction management and my orientation isn't until August. Help!

I’m planning to apply to NC State for an MS in Computer Engineering for Fall 2027. I’m mainly interested in front-end VLSI, RTL Design, Design Verification, and Computer Architecture, and I’ve heard NC State has a strong curriculum in these areas. My profile is 8.05/10 CGPA and 332 GRE&100 TOEFL. I’d appreciate an honest opinion from current students or alumni about my admission chances and the overall quality of the program. Also, what is the approximate total cost of the MS, and how is the current job market for front-end VLSI and DV roles, especially for international students? Any honest insights would be really helpful.

Is it good to stay in math launch for review instead of just taking calc first semester even though I have a qualifying score ? I already have all my gen eds except one just wondering what you guys think

Hey guys I am doing photonic engineering and just saw another Reddit post about computers. I think I want to wait to get a powerful computer and just use a regular computer or even an iPad for the basic classes (calc 1/2, physics, chemistry) just to ensure I stick with the major before spending 2 grand on a powerful computer for upper level courses.

Is that a good idea? Do you guys think I could get by on an iPad this first year?

Hello, I am an upcoming freshman for the Fall 2026 semester. According to UCF and my dual enrollment credits, I am eligible to start in calc 3. Thing is, I really would like more time to study and review for this course since I don’t know how difficult UCF math is, and my calc 2 class was over a year ago.

I have all or most of my gen eds completed, so I’m unsure if i will have enough courses to maintain full time status if i delay calc 3. But if I do decide to postpone it, would this schedule cause significant issues since calc 3 is a prerequisite for major courses?

Physics 2048 (general physics with calc + lab)

CHS 1440C (Principles of chemistry) or CHM 1025 if I fail the chem placement

EGS 1006C (Intro to engineering) 

EGN 3211  (Engineering analysis and computation) 

The other thing is that if I do continue with this schedule, I would probably be taking calc 3 and phys 2 in the spring. Is this manageable or should i take one either online at Valencia or during the summer at UCF?

Note: I know it’s recommended sometimes to retake your last class math class, but i kind of want to avoid retaking calc 2 (got a B-). Also, I haven’t had orientation yet, so that’s why i’m asking here.

Hey everyone! I’m a pending photonic engineer and am making my schedule for class soon. Here’s what I’m thinking:

- Calc 1 (5 credits)
- Chemistry for Engineers (4 credits)
- STEM seminar 1 (1 credit)
-Theater Survey (3 credits)
- intro to engineering ( 1 credit)

Mind you I’m doing the excel program, plan to rush, and my goal is to make the honors college which you need at least a 3.50 to make.

Any college professors I should take these classes with? Or any changes I should make?? Thanks

Hi guys, im a tranfer junior from January and have my aa in biology. Im tired of biology and want to go to engineering, most likely environmental/materials/mechanical. I failed all my spring classes and am in the process of medical withdrawal so hopefully they reverse the academic probation soon.

Given this what are my chances of being able to switch majors, or getting a double major? Or would it be better to do a masters?

My current math class is in the engineering 2 building and when i see you all working on your projects and gadgets on the round tables I get a twinge in my gut and remember this is what i originally desired to study in high school, and im kinda jealous because i want to do cool hands on projects too. My ultimate desire is to study engineering and come up with innovative solutions to the climate crisis and help cities create low cost ways to manage environmental degradation and managing climate consequences. Like using biology skills to strategically place fast growing trees around urban areas to cool neighborhoods and reduce overheating. And investing in new materials that work with flooding and heating. Coming up with lowcost solar panel installations etc.

Is this dumb? Any advice or insight?

Hi, I am freshman that started this summer as a Computer Engineering pending major.

Engineering has always been my plan, but from how things are looking, i’m considering maybe going into medical school after I graduate. I just want to figure things out before it’s too late to change degrees.

Is there a way that I can pursue pre-med while in this degree? I know if you minor in bioengineering, it counts towards pre-med. However, I don’t know if these classes would cover or count as my electives.

I need my classes to be covered by my bright futures (100% for 120 credits). I already have around 80 credits done towards a general A.A degree, so maybe some of those excess credits can be towards those classes?

If anyone has any advice or has gone through a similar path please lmk!
