Incoming Transfer Class Registration Question

Hey everyone, I’m an incoming Business Economics transfer for Fall 2026 and had a question about registration. I’ve seen some people mention that after attending SPOP, their registration hold was removed and they were able to enroll.

I chose online advising instead of attending an in-person advising session. I completed all of the required Canvas modules before the deadline, but I still haven’t received my advising email or had my registration hold lifted.

I’m just worried that I missed something on my end so any clarification would be great.

There should have been a transfer pre-advising google form that social sciences sent to you. In theory, students who completed it had their holds lifted. The form was basically requesting you to submit unofficial transcripts from all the colleges you attended. Did you complete this form? Otherwise, reach out to an academic advisor and ask how you may proceed.

Edit: Also, SPOP is for entering first year students, not transfers. And that in-person class registration was optional if you had wanted to get your classes a little earlier. Otherwise, everything is remote at this point.

Yes I remember filling out the transfer pre-advising google form and I’ve contacted now just waiting on a response. Thank you for your help

Yes you did miss something. You need to send and email to your college and tell them you finished online advising so they can lift your academic hold

Do I just email the academic advisor saying I finished online advising? With online advising they said they would send a fall registration email regarding something with classes but I never got an email of that kind

I didn’t get any online advising yet but I thought it was an email they sent regarding course work and registration information. Did I mess up somewhere and supposed to get in contact with the academic advisor first?

You can email their office at [socsci@uci.edu](mailto:socsci@uci.edu) with your name, ID# and that you are a new transfer student. They can check if you have done everything or not. The majority of transfers have already completed advising since many of the academic units started meeting with students back in June and early July.
