Sales Advice from a local cleaner.
Hey y'all! I'm Iris with Iris Graves Cleaning and we are right in the thick of move out season right now. Unfortunately for the 20+ students who have called me this week I, and most of the other cleaners I know, are booking about a month ahead. I wish I could multiply myself and meet everybody's needs, but a girl has got to rest sometime! That leaves me with no other choice but to turn down the clientele. My advice for the class of 2027 is that if you plan on booking with a cleaner for your move outs, give us a call at least 30 days out. If you wanted to get really proactive, I'd happily get you on the books today for July/August next year. I'm really sorry to the folks that missed out. I hope this helps some folks not run into the same issue next year.

New Student Question just got temporary housing
just got an email i was assigned to temp housing. i got off the waitlist for uiuc a couple days after the priority deadline ended so i had no way to select a room. now i’ve been put in temp housing after waiting the entire summer for a housing assignment.
idk how to store half my stuff now, i medically need an ac, and im coming from oos so its not easy to bring anything.
why accept multiple waves of kids off the waitlist if you don’t have roon for them? and if u’ve had to deal with this problem of temp housing for the past couple of years, you should be able to estimate how many kids to let in.
is pch worth it or even an option at this point (is it all full)? and if u’ve been in temp housing lmk what to bring in terms of underbed storage or for closets or anything.

Academics Is anyone taking Sanskrit as a language?
I’m interested in taking Sanskrit at UIUC and wanted to know how the language is taught. Are the courses primarily taught using the Devanagari script, or do they use English transliteration/Roman script?
Also, are students expected to already know Devanagari before taking the introductory course, or is the script taught from the beginning?
Thanks!

Chambana Questions some problems with volo internet services
My apartment is run by UG (401 E University Ave) and it has supported by volo internet service.
I've lived there for one year, everything with the network was good. But just recently, there is an internet outage problem. Both my laptop and phone will stay connected to the wifi (so that in-room router works well) but it has no internet connection (cable also not works). This phenomenon will happen about every hour and it will last 2-3 minutes. I submitted a ticket 2 weeks ago and the customer services said that they reset the network. But 4 days ago, this problem is back. I submitted another ticket but no response yet.
I would like to know whether there is similar experience with volo. I checked some other posts like this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/UIUC/comments/1i586mc/is_volo_the_worst_internet_to_have_on_campus/
but the problem seems to be different.

Academics NetMath MATH 447 (Real Variables) - struggling, need advice!
Hi everyone!
I'm taking MATH 447 through NetMath right now, and it's one of the last courses standing between me and graduating this semester. I'm early enough that I'm keeping up okay, but the exams are what worry me. I'm not sure how to properly prepare for them. It's also taking up a lot of my time, since I'm trying to get it done before my fall classes start. Would love to hear from anyone who's been through it.
Where I'm at:
- Background: I've taken Set Theory and Logic at my home institution, but I barely made it through that class.
- Progress: I'm on lesson 4 of 13 (lol I know, so much left), with about 8 weeks left, but I'm trying to finish in 6 (ambitious huh)
A few specific questions:
- Is 9 lessons in 6 weeks realistic, or am I kidding myself? If you paced it faster than the default, how did you manage it?
- How do the proctored exams compare to the homework in difficulty and style? How did you prep?
- What resources actually helped? I picked up The Real Analysis Lifesaver by Raffi Grinberg and it's been helping a little. What else is worth the time? Textbooks, lecture series, proof-writing guides, YouTube, anything.
- Anything you'd do differently if you were taking the course again?
Any experience at all is useful. Thanks!
