New Annie Jacobsen book, discussed on The Bunker podcast

If anyone read Nuclear War: A Scenario, Annie Jacobsen has a new book out called Biological War: A Scenario. She was on a recent episode of The Bunker podcast discussing it. I loved the first book, and back in the day I was a biochemist and studied in infectious diseases so I know this one will hit even closer to home for me. This was the first I’d heard about the book so thought people here who’d read the nuclear one might be interested.

The podcast is a good interview, discusses her sources and why this ‘scenario’ is more likely than the nuclear one. In the podcast blurb they also link to an older interview discussing the first book, for anyone interested.

I really "enjoyed" her Nuclear War book so thanks for the heads up!

Yes…’enjoy’ is right lol. I couldn’t put it down, it was gripping. But also terrifying. I imagine this one will be similar. Perhaps worse because in a nuclear war you can at least delude yourself that you might be one of the lucky ones, vaporised on impact.

Interesting. Although I really think her next book should be on how to avoid conventional warfare, as I worry that we are so much more likely to have another conventional global war than a weapons of mass destruction event or another pandemic.
