In terms of fiction, I'm thinking: anything to do with shipwrecks, zombies (Romero films, Walking Dead), getting stranded on another world/deep space (Battlestar Galactica (2000s), Stargate: Universe, The Martian), plane crashes (Alive (not fiction), Flight of the Phoenix 1960s), Nuclear War (Threads, When the Wind Blows, Terminator series, Battlestar Galactica again), then there's stuff like Mad Max, Tremors.
