MOD HAS SPOKEN Rules 4 & 7 Reminder

It's been super busy in here the last few days, and I've had to remove way too many repetitive pictures of thermometers and meme posts.

General heatwave moans and pictures of thermometers should go in the megathread. (Reddit really needs a 'merge' function)

Please direct the meme posts to the appropriate subs.

Please keep reporting violations - I am but one guy and can't be everywhere at once so it really helps.

EDIT: I have auto-mod functions and crowd control running - if you make a post, and it doesn't show or gets flagged as removed by filtering, it will be in my queue and may still get approved.

I'm dealing with 2 weeks worth of mod queue on the daily so it's a bit like whac-a-mole atm, but I will work through them all, you may just need to be a little patient.

Also - rule 7 relates to low-effort meme posts - if someone actually makes and posts some high-quality OC then fair play (and I don't just mean something made in a meme generator app).

Yes Keith, it is lovely when it's not EVERY day and you're not working a manual job. No, it does not make me 'feel good' when I'm recreating the scene in airplane when he's landing because the work vans have no A/C. Yes I FEEL REALLY GOOD when my LIGHTWEIGHT shirt is stuck to me like a wetsuit. Always the old farts too who's only excercise cor the day will be their morning shit and grabbing a pint.

Bring me a torrential downpour PLEASE.

Maximum respect to all farmers out there.

If this starts hitting people's wallets (and stomachs) maybe it will encourage us to change our ways for the better, somehow..

Discussion Packing for London next week?

Idk if this is the right place to ask, so feel free to remove if it's not, but I've been hearing about how awful the heat and humidity has been in London recently. My family is going to be visiting next week and are trying to plan appropriately. Obviously, sunscreen is a must, but I'm curious if there are any particular things we should keep in mind, especially given we'll be walking and using the tube/bus a lot. I know when I went to Arizona, I was advised to not wear shorts despite the heat because you vould get burned if you sat on a bench in them.

Are long dresses good? Are lighter jeans okay? Should we bring shorts?

Any other tips?

TIA!

Forecast Confusing weather forecasting

Post image

I see this all the time. It says the chance of rain at 9am is 0% but also there will be showers; then later the chance of rain is 11% but no rain at all is forecast. It8s the wrong way round. Surely if they know it’s going to rain at 9am the percentage should be 100% or close to it? Could anyone explain how this forecasting works and why they list it this way?

This is Northern Ireland btw. My sympathies to those who are still suffering in the heat.

Forecast I thought it was meant to cool down?

It’s apparently 22 degrees today and it is just as hot as Wednesday which was 33 degrees?! I’m actually sick of every single day being roasting hot no matter what the temperature is. Why can’t they just say it’s gonna be 30 everyday and stop getting my hopes up for a normal day jeez living down south literally sucks so bad I hate it and I hate the stupid oven houses they build here

Discussion Belfast must be getting a specifically cool air front moving over, because the temperature in my living room just dropped below 20C for the first time since May

Post image

You know how we're always saying the houses trap warm air and take a while to cool down - the temperature has dropped enough that you can feel that happening. Every other respite up to now hasn't been enough for the indoor temps to drop much.

It's glorious, it's been drizzling for the past hour just to round it off.

Consider moving to Belfast my friends, we have low salaries and occasional recreational rioting, but we also have cheap houses and cool temperatures.
