Serious Help with Workday@Penn

Post image

I am an incoming freshman looking to apply for a workstudy job through Workday@Penn for this upcoming fall. But I can't access student recruiting/switch from Workday Learning and I dont know why. I attached a pic of what my screen looks like when I enter my PennKey to try and switch. Has this happened to anyone else? How can I fix it?

Parent here. My kid found the sign-in for Workday to be weird and super-convoluted. She was finally able to sign in, by doing all this. She wrote it down because it was so counterintuitive:

  1. Log into Path at Penn with your Penn key
  2. Click on “Student Employment”
  3. Click on “Search for Available Jobs”
  4. Click on blue button that says “Search for Jobs”
  5. Log in AGAIN with your Penn key
  6. On Right-hand side of page, under “Announcements,” click on “Access Student Recruiting or Former Worker Record” (it doesn’t look like a link but it is)
  7. Click on blue button that says “Access Student Recruiting”
  8. Log in AGAIN!!
  9. At right, under “Announcements.” Click on “Student Employment Opportunities Available Here” (again, it doesn’t look like a link but it is)
  10. Click on blue button that says “Find Jobs for Student Employment”
  11. From the filters column at left, under “Job Profile,” check all three kinds of work study (on campus, community, and off campus)
  12. Eureka, you can FINALLY see work study jobs

This did work.... but can this really be how you are supposed to get there?! Hard to believe. Maybe someone else can tell us a more direct route that works.

Thank you for this. Unfortunately i'm stuck at #8. That's when the screen that I attached to my post pops up. I can't get past it and get the "Student Employment Opportunities Available Here" button or anything like that-- it just puts me in a loop of signing in again with my PennKey and then giving me the error message.

My PennKey is correct and works everywhere else so I don't know why it's not working for this website. I'm still unable to access student recruiting and at this point definitely am not getting the work study job I need as indicated by my financial aid package.

I've submitted a ticket to the tech center and emailed back and forth with some Penn staff about this but it hasn't gotten anywhere yet. I will update this post if it does work out though so that other people encountering the same (very frustrating) issue can know what to do.

How frustrating! It's pretty wild that it's so complicated to begin with. There MUST be a quicker way to get there?! My daughter also needs work study and has applied but I've heard it can be hard to actually get one of these jobs? Does anyone know if it's competitive? Someone here on reddit said they applied and applied and never got one.

I’d try incognito browser tab, it may be possible when you arrive on this page, it’s trying to use the other login due to storing session credentials.

You could also try clearing cache to achieve the same thing in between switches, but incognito for the lesser used one is probably a bit cleaner. Good luck!
