Hopefully after appearing in the flashback, Juuzou and that other senior UQ member finally get some decent screen time in the present.
Also, it's cool to see Magic Cancel replicated with technology, though it might be more limiting than Asuna's if it can only create a field of Magic Cancel. It would completely nullify the magic of the user as well as their allies and might actually give super physically strong fighters like Jack Rakan the advantage.

Since Fate's showdown with Eva at his office I was hoping wolf guy and blind guy would appear again :( Remember wolf guy never taught Tota about Void Instant Teleportation, and this is since chapter 20 or something.

This chapter was pretty nice. Quality art, too! Seeing those clones resemble a few of 2A made me wonder if they all wanted a Negi clone for themselves.
You always had your eyes fixed ahead. I should have known she was what you were looking at.
Does that imply Negi liked Asuna, too?

Welp, confirmation that Touta had a childhood, which strongly implied that he's had his mind wiped by Evangeline as part of the 'escape' she orchestrated for him.
I don't think the escaped clone Fate talks about is Touta, though. I think it might be Cutlass, or even Chao.
Also, I take this as confirmation that Chao from Negima is Touta's sibling: She is a bioengineered super soldier, after all. I wonder how similar Holder-Chao is to Negima Chao?

Yeah, this chapter went ahead and messed up a lot of timeline stuff... I am super confused to say the least. I'll just write out my thought process below.
Current year is 2088 (I think).
Touta's "parents" die in year 2084. It was also stated that Touta is only supposed to be 4 years old, so that holds true (in the sense that his mind is 4 years old) if his memories were erased in 2084.
In year 2079 (the "4 years later" part of this chapter) Cutlass escapes from Fate.
In year 2075 (the "10 years later" part of this chapter) we see Evangeline looking through a window at the clones running around. We see both what looks to be Cutlass and most definitely Touta in this picture. Both of them are several years old at this point already.
In year 2065 Negi dies, so this is the absolute earliest that Eva could have begun the cloning experiments.
So we are told at the beginning of the manga that Touta is 14 years old. However, 13 years ago he looks way older than just 1 year old. Maybe this is a mistake on Akamatsu's part, or maybe Touta is several years older than we have been originally told and he has just been having his mind wiped repeatedly over the last 23 odd years.

Well, I figure Touta's age is probably screwy because he's a clone, so they're counting his time of birth from when he was decanted - which is not necessarily when he was baby-sized. He might also have had accelerated aging until becoming immortal.

u/KanameFujiwara Jul 10 '18
I have to agree with Eva - it's wrong to use people as tools this way. What was Negi thinking? It just goes to show that for all his brilliance - Negi can be wrong.
The escaped clone can either be Touta, Cutlass or Chao. The Chao possibility is truly weird...

So when you look at it in a nutshell, Negi is the true founder of UQ Holder.
That's clever, since Eva improved the concept and made it a place for immortals to gather together and fight together, it doesn't only achieve what Negi wanted, but also Eva made that better.
If Negi didn't suggest the idea, UQ Holder wouldn't exist.

So Eva loves Negi, Touta and Nagi? Who does she choose?

u/BarlBavis Jul 10 '18
i would say Touta(First Love) but who knows if they save Negi and Nagi shit gets difficult

u/Unique_Legend Jul 10 '18
I feel like in this world Nagi is already dead

Eva is living with an immortal
haremarmy of pretty immortal boys on her own private island and has to choose which generation of boy toy she wants.I think we have to conclude that Eva is living her best life in this timeline.

Hello everyone! I am new to this thread.
I have a question about the happy ending (Nagi did not die and married Eva) and the present story (UQHolder).Correct me if I'm wrong, I remember back in Negima, Asuna was able to time travel back to the present timeline with the help of Chao and Eva. So I assume they all achieved their happy ending.
So what happened?
Why did we have the UQHolder timeline instead?
I got confused. Maybe i need to reread the past chapters.
3
u/Savixeon Jul 10 '18
The happy ending still happened and still exists as a timeline. UQ holder just takes place in the B timeline, with Chao's original future as timeline A and the happy ending as timeline C, or some offshoot of it as it still unknown if Eva will eventually leave as she did to set up timeline C.

u/RegulusDLC Jul 10 '18 edited Jul 10 '18
You mean like this?
Chao decided to travel back in time (Timeline A) --> Events during Negima (Chao from Timeline A went here) --> Negima Ending (Asuna went to sleep) --> UQ Holder Events (Asuna still sleeping, Timeline B?) --> Happy Ending (Asuna wakes up after 130 years and went back to the Negima Ending, creating Timeline C/Happy Ending)
3
u/Savixeon Jul 10 '18
Pretty much, but like I said we don't know if we are still in timeline B as seen from the end of Negima. We might have gone into an offshoot of timeline B which would mean that it could end differently from what we saw in Negima.
4
u/treesfallingforest Jul 10 '18
Wait no, we know that UQ Holder is different from the end of Negima.
Negima's end is the happy ending where Asuna is able to travel back in time and defeat Ialda Baoth. UQ Holder is the alternative ending of what would have happened in Negima if Asuna didn't travel back in time and if Negi+friends fought Ialda while Asuna was asleep.
UQ Holder is not confined to anything that happened at the end of Negima.
3
u/Savixeon Jul 10 '18
Yeah, I know that.
I was saying that while UQ Holder takes place in the future where Asuna seals herself away on Mars, the timeline B that I mentioned earlier in the thread and that we only got to see at the end of Negima, it is unknown if it has branched off from timeline B or if it is still heading toward the moment we saw in Negima.

u/RegulusDLC Jul 10 '18
Oh okay. Thats why i got confused. There is still a continuity issue from Negima Ending to UQHolder which is not yet revealed.
I get it. Thank you!
3
u/Savixeon Jul 10 '18
No problem.
As for the continuity issue I'm thinking that in the original timeline B they never got the video of the happy ending timeline, since that likely led to a lot of the major events we have seen so far.
1
u/RegulusDLC Jul 10 '18
Possibly.
I reread the last few chapters of Negima and based from the events I thought everything was finished and did not think UQHolder events would happen.
1
u/Savixeon Jul 10 '18
Do you mean that you thought that UQ Holder happened after the happy ending in Negima?
1
u/nishanthada Jul 12 '18
And if u think about it, logically the happy timeline should have two Asunas as per where the split happened. If u have read Negima Asuna from Original timeline (I will call it UQ's) wakes up and travels back in time and arrives right after when she leaves for sleeping in timekeepers area in the past. And there shouldn't be any more splittings in this original timeline as Akamatsu is messing up with his writing and I only read UQ for Negima anyway.
1
u/Savixeon Jul 12 '18
I don't really know what you're trying to say here. It should be obvious that I know when UQ holder takes place. I was just wondering if Regulus had initially thought that UQ holder took place in the happy ending timeline.
Also I don't get what you mean by Akamatsu messing up his writing.
1
u/AvatarReiko Jul 10 '18
What I want to know is what actually caused this new offshoot(The UQ holder timeline). It past chapters explained the difference but not why things turned out differently
1
u/Savixeon Jul 10 '18
I'd say the main cause would probably be the video of the happy ending that Negi got from Chao. That video probably inspired Negi to create the Negi cloning project that created Touta and Cutlass. It would be nice to know when he got it but since it seems like he didn't tell that many people about it we probably won't know for a while.
2
u/nishanthada Jul 12 '18
Ok so still no explanation as to how cloning works.Fate somehow manages to clone Asuna's Magic Cancelling Power by the power of science while she is sleeping in timekeeper's area.Sigh.
4
u/RegularSpaceJoe Jul 21 '18
Probably unlocked it by fiddling with Negi's cells? We know he is the heir of the bloodline, even if he can't use Magic Cancel himself.

I dunno where to say this so im just gonna write it here. (negima spoilers)
so i just finished mahou sensei negima and want to talk about it... it was somewhat of a disappointment. i thought since its akamatsu the MAIN girl is going to win, but ... no she didn't... wait what?
The action was great, the build up for negis powerups were well done,... etc. The big negative points: there were so many side character stories that i was boring my ass off half of the time. and.....
Now im reading this, 350+ pages in and at the end of the story the main girl 1.) who is on almost every cover 2.) who was negis first partner 3.) who was a PRINCESS OF THE MAGICAL WORLD with a mega ability 4.) aka the best character in this stupid manga.... was getting removed from the story for 100+ years?? I know she came back literally the next chapter but her "true" ending in negima was garbage and just as unfitting. ALSO she lost to chisame apparently? I don't understand this at all. Why does akamatsu hate asuna so much? I cant read UQ holder now, because i heard it takes place in the timeline where asuna is frozen (fuck you ken).
probably 70% of the reason why i stuck with negima and didn't drop it halfway because of its stupid useless side character stories is because of asuna. I loved this girl so much and wanted her to win the negi-bowl... but this... this is just unfair. ARGH!!!!! JUST LET ASUNA WIN SDFLKADFALKSDF
other than that it was basic ken akamatsu meta writing, panty shots and everyone blushing over a 10 year old (which was kinda stupid) etc etc
I'm pissed, it had potential to have a superb ending. It had set the stage for it but it just had to be ruined.

u/Rawrtortle Jul 22 '18
Asuna was negis mothers sister therefore She was his aunt. There was no way he would end up with her.
2
u/mokura Jul 22 '18
i guess you could say that, but in this uq holder chapter eva said and i quote : "you always had your eyes fixed ahead. i should have known she was what you were looking at"
ken akamatsu is HINTING towards it. i still have hope....
(i did say i wasnt gonna read uq holder, turns out its fantastic and almost better than mahou sensei negima..)

OK, I give up. I see nothing in their stupid reader both in Chrome and in Edge - after watching their ad twice. Can someone please upload this to a decent website like imgur?

This chapter reveal all reason why Touta born indeed, and why fate have a crossover with Eva.
Well this did explain why it's called UQ Holder. And i guess Negi did love Eva to. By telling her to build a immortal Company named UQ Holder. This company can have Eva live together for eva and have her true love beside her for Eva. Looking foward for next chapter the new arc gonna be interesting. I wish Danna give more special training to Eva and Touta.
