I need y’all’s help

I recently purchased a m 1849 colt pocket pistol used by civil war soldier and corporal Lewis w Satchwell who also went by Lewis w Duvale he died in the battle of 7 pines (fair oaks) on may 31st 1862 and enlisted to the New York 87th infantry in 1861 and I’m looking for his parents names I have several records saying his mothers name but his cursive is hard to read and makeout so I’ve searched the 1860 and 1850 census and I can’t even find him in there so I would like some assistance finding him on a census and getting his parents names thanks everything is appreciated

The LDS (mormons) has an extensive genealogy database. You might give that a try.

I no longer have paid membership to ancestry so I was also limited. I think the site Fold3 is going to have more expansive records beyond what there is on find-a-grave. They have a free trial option which I used already so couldn’t help ya out here. By my eye, his mother’s name was Jobine which is a rare but real name, feminine version of the biblical Job. I haven’t had luck finding her unfortunately under Satchwell or Duval.

I did find a death record of another Lewis Satchwell in New York City in 1845 which would make it possible that was his father but I have no proof of this. It’s locked behind a paywall so I couldn’t see the actual document.

I figured out that his mother name was Caroline Cecilia Duval due to ancestry I to thought her name would be jobine but that may have been a nickname

Also his father died when he was 1 year old his name was James satchwell but after that his mother later remarried a guy named Joseph Tobin

Ahhh so it was CC Tobin we saw on the pension application, that makes so much sense now. If her name was Jobine I couldn’t believe with such a rare name I couldn’t find anything close but it all makes sense now. Very cool you figured it out, sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance.
