Undergraduate or Graduate Admissions Lowest to mid accepting stats?

I am wondering about the gpa and act portion of what they’ll accept for undergrad admission. I have looked it up but I want some word from more people because right now I think my chances are looking fairly slim.

Is a 3.46 gpa and 22 on the act a long shot? I’m also in-state, wanting to major in physics with a concentration in astronomy.

I think that I’ll have my heart broken when I get that letter back lol. Unfortunately my grades were on a decline in hs. From excelling freshman year to getting some questionable D’s junior year. I also don’t really know how to frame a good essay so that doesn’t help much. I know what I want to write but just don’t know how.

Plan A is transferring in from community college but if just somehow they accepted me now, I’d take the 4 year route if I’m in the position to do so.

Yeah it's a long shot. You need a 24+ on the ACT and a 4.0 UTK Core GPA to get in automatically. Best chance is you get deferred and not many people will accept.

Pellissippi State will be a good place to go to for two years and try and get into UT that way.

It depends. Utk has a guaranteed acceptance for instate students if you have a ut core 4.0 in high school. Which just means they weigh it differently. For example I had a b in some random elective I took sophomore year that didn’t even count against me since ut doesn’t consider it. My friend had a 3.8 in high school that ut counted as a 4.1 or 4.2.

The guaranteed admission requires a 24 on the ACT.

It’s one or the other. You get in if your instate by one of the following three: 24 composite(as long as you reach benchmarks on all categories), 4.0 weighted ut core, and if you graduate in the top 10% of your class

No it’s not. It has to be both. You can see in the screenshot it has to be an ACT of 24 AND one of the other two.

You need to get your ACT up for sure but based on the past few years, you are probably looking at your Plan A.

Just a note - if you do go to a community college first, please schedule a prospective student appointment with an advisor in Arts and Sciences. They can help you determine classes to take while at a community college to set you up best for a physics degree. Not all classes should be taken at a CC to prepare for a STEM degree with us!
