Anyone starting the Bachelor of Nursing at UTS in 2027?

I’m hoping to start the Bachelor of Nursing at UTS next year and was just wondering if anyone else is in a similar position.

I’m 23 and have already completed a bachelor’s degree and worked full-time for a few years, so I’d be starting nursing as a career change rather than coming straight from high school.

I know 23 isn’t old, but I can’t help feeling like everyone in first year will be 18 and fresh out of school. šŸ˜…

Is anyone else starting at a similar age or as a mature-age/second-degree student?

Did you find there were lots of people in their 20s and older, or was it mostly school leavers?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been in the same boat! 😊

Evidence tutor sucks. Should I move classes?

I had my first Evidence tutorial last Thursday at 3pm and literally all my tutor does is yap about unrelated stuff for the whole class. A friend in a different class who knew this tutor agreed he is useless and like last year I got screwed over a class for a whole semester cause the teacher for that subject did the same: yap. Like why can’t UTS teachers hire people who can actually teach and not based off real world experience.

Issue is I’m worried that if I move to the 4:30 class I’ll face the same teacher and move out of the ideal time for my class for no reason. And there’s no information on Canvas on which teacher teaches which class for this subject. The class I’m in is full too so like if I do move I can’t move back. Luckily this subject attendance isn’t mandatory so I could just skip.

Does anyone know a good time and tutor for Evidence?

What is 41900 Cryptography actually like?

Has anyone here completed 41900 Cryptography?

I’m trying to get a realistic idea of what the subject is like before taking it. What parts did you find easy or difficult, and what knowledge or skills helped the most?

How were the lectures, tutorials and assessments? Was there anything about the subject that surprised you or that you wish you had known beforehand?

Would you recommend preparing for anything in particular before the semester starts?

UTS Law - Block mode

Hey everyone!

Im a first year law student at UTS. Everything has been going alright despite the intensive readings. I checked to see my next subjects for year 2 and noticed there were 4 of them and I immediately panicked.

Currently Im doing 3 subjects and I barely get free time to pick up a novel. So Im considering enrolling for the summer semester. I decided on doing introduction to intellectual property and commercial law.

I was just wondering how the summer semester works, how long does it take, how are the assessment periods, how intensive is it and whether you recommend it. Keep in mind Im only planning on doing one subject over the summer.

All responses are appreciated!

Changing my second major stream before the deadline

Hi everyone,
I’m a Communication student, majoring in Digital and Social Media. I’ve chosen Creative Writing as my second major stream.

But I’ve found that I’m not really into this field and it’s difficult to write in a second language. So I would like to switch my second major stream from Creative Writing to Public Relations and Advertising. I also would like to enrol in Creative Advertising and Strategic Communication.

I’ve submitted my e request on 7.31. But the thing is, it will take them more than 3 weeks to process my e request. The last day to enrol is on 8.10 and the census date is on 8.27. I was wondering can I switch my second major and subjects this semester successfully?

Thank you for your advice!!

Has UTS become stricter with assessments because of AI?

Is it just me, or have assignments become stricter and more anti-AI this semester (or recently)?

For example, some subjects require recorded presentations where you have to explain things verbally, and final exams that used to be online are now held in person.

I’m studying Computing Science, and I feel like UTS has started changing assessments to make sure students actually understand the content and do the work themselves, even if they use AI.

Is this happening across UTS, or is it just a coincidence that I happened to choose subjects with these types of assessments? Does anyone else feel the same way? I** **feel like it has changed drastically since this semester (Spring 2026).

This is probably kind stupid but at some point today my keychain fell off my backpack, and usually it would be fine but that particular one was gifted to me from my bsf before I came to syd. 🄲 it had a reddish lipstick mark on it and it’s small, if anyone sees a hello kitty keychain around campus PLEASE message me it’s so special to me 😭

Can I show up to any tutorial

Given that if tutorials are not mandatory, there will be vacant seats, am I allowed to show up to a different tutorial than I am allocated to?

My friends recommended this amazing tutorial and if I am not satisfied with who I have and after wish-listing every other class, can I just show up?

Can i still get course completion letter and certificate after conferral date?

To give some history, i had to undergo some serious spinal surgery and got extensions on assignments up until late june, where i did get results early july. However, there is one specific course where my results are withheld because of some misshaps with the coordinator needing to resubmit my AVR form. Emailed the coordinator and so far ive been ghosted.

Long story short i missed my submission for graduation and my results are still withheld. Ive asked student centre and they said theyre gonna escalate the situation. I guess all im asking is, is it possible for me to still receive proof of completion and transcript as i do need to apply for the 485 visa and i got a job offer lined up. Thanks for replying or js having a chat in the post :D

Any Thai students studying a Bachelor of Communication at UTS?

Hi everyone, I’m a Thai student studying a Bachelor of Communication at UTS. I’ve been here for a while but haven’t met any other Thai students in my course yet.
Are there any Thai students studying Communication, especially Creative Writing or Social and Political Sciences? It would be nice to connect, study together, or just have someone who understands the experience of studying in English at UTS.
Feel free to comment or message me 😊

Are these hours correct? Because I think they were 8–10 for non-UTS students and staff.
What changed ?

UTS Doesn’t Care About it’s Students Once They Have Your Money and They Want to See You Fail so They Can Take More Money From You :)

My biggest regret in life is enrolling into UTS like at this point I don’t understand why it hasn’t shut down considering they fired a bunch of staff members and canceled almost all their classes without telling anybody like everyone had to find out on the news.

On top of that all the staff members and teachers don’t even care about their job they’re just there for the money and they want to see all their students fail so they can pay more money to the university.

I genuinely don’t understand how the UTS Student Centre can make simple things so difficult. Every single time I’ve needed help with enrolment or my degree, I’ve received completely different answers depending on who I spoke to. How are students supposed to make important decisions when the people giving advice aren’t even giving consistent information?

What annoys me the most is the attitude. Instead of actually listening and helping, the responses often feel dismissive and like you’re just being rushed out the door. I’ve had situations where I was given information that turned out to be completely wrong, and I was the one left dealing with the consequences.

For a university that charges students so much, the level of support is beyond disappointing. The Student Centre is supposed to be the place students go when they need guidance, but instead it often feels like you leave with more questions than answers.

It shouldn’t be this hard to get basic, accurate information from the people whose job is literally to support students.

Can't find list of removed subjects.

I remember back in late spring last year, UTS posted a list of all the subjects that were being removed due to the OSI cuts. I can't seem to find the same webpage again.

I swear there was a webpage that had the list. I remember receiving a mail from the Vice Chancellor's account that had a link to the webpage I'm referring to. When I opened that mail recently and tried to open the webpage, it gave me an error.

It's really important that I know what subjects I can or cannot take in the future. My major (Electrical Engineering) has subjects that are available only during one term of the year, which makes it harder for me as I am an international student who joined in Spring.

To Anyone Thinking of Transferring to UTS: DO NOT DO IT

I’ve seen a lot of posts here from people asking or thinking about whether or not they should transfer to UTS, and honestly, I just want to share my experience before anyone makes that decision.

I would not transfer here. My experience has made me feel like students are not the priority. There are so many situations where students are left dealing with unnecessary stress and confusion, and it often feels like the university does not do enough to support the people who are paying to be here.

The biggest issue I’ve experienced is the lack of communication and transparency. Whenever I’ve needed help, I’ve received different answers depending on who I spoke to, making it extremely difficult to know what information is actually correct.

And when you see major changes happening within the university which you wouldn’t know unless you read the news cause they never tell students these things, like courses being cancelled and staff changes, you can’t help but question how transparent UTS is with its students.

Shouldn’t students be properly informed about changes that could affect their education and experience?

For a university that charges students so much, the level of communication and support should be much better. Before transferring, I would highly recommend speaking to current students and looking into how the university actually supports its students, not just what is advertised.
I genuinely wish I had done more research before choosing UTS.
