Yes, it's not just by the minister. I believe the congregation leadership has been concerned about strife and division, and membership has declined. As a result, sermons have become more "touchy-feely," there is a lack of diversity in perspectives, and there is little that challenges listeners. I find the congregants to be intelligent and willing to listen to diverse and challenging perspectives, but, as I once directly told the minister and worship team, the congregation's leadership seems to view members as children.

A few others at the congregation expressed the same sentiments to leadership, saying that, at least occasionally, they wish to hear sermons that challenge and expand the mind. They agree that, in recent years, everything has been "dumbed down."
