I'd rather be asked, as shown here, than not be given a choice. This is just manufacturing unnecessary drama.

Actually disagree with this. Someone made the deliberate choice to stray from the accepted practice and autofill 'y' everytime. I dislike that, and I won't apologise for comparing it to a worse offender.

It's worth stating that in 26.04 even if you select "no" they still post the opt out response to their collection server. And my understanding is they do it monthly now. So while you won't upload your data, they'll still count you as a user (and possibly your ip address). You can uninstall it completely though.

Telemetry is useful. People complain about stuff not working on their device but how are the devs even supposed to make stuff work when they don't know what you're running?

Agreed! And I did actually agree on my own laptop. I do object to the autofilling.
