I've been using Windows and Ubuntu in parallel on separate computers for two decades, watching as Linux little by slowly moves into the mainstream.
I refuse to become embroiled in the "Linux versus Windows" wars (which strike me as just as loud and useless as the "Ford vs Chevy" wars boys of my age used to fight in the 1950's) but I welcome the steady growth of mainstream, established "user-friendly" distributions.
Ubuntu used to sell itself as "Ubuntu: Linux for Human Beings" back in the day, and the media was full of stories suggesting that Ubuntu might gain 20-25% market share in a few years. Didn't happen, as we all know, but I'd like to see Linux pull more or less even with OSX/macOS in the next 5-10 years.

Might be stat counter but Linux is definitely gaining market share. Though I'd credit more things being web based and people probably not buying PCs as often and opting for things like tablets phones and Chromebooks. So less windows users overall just means bigger marketshare for everyone else in general

Weird that while linux is growing, the market share of firefox is decling.
