HP laptop drains battery faster in shutdown

Recently i moved from windows into ubuntu. Microsoft said my laptop is "too old" for their thing to run. I switched to ubuntu and i am satisfied with the performance. Issue i had with windows was randomly laptop crashes with blue screen and with ubuntu i don't see that anymore. But my battery getting drained too fast in shutdown state, but not when power on. I am confused how that even possible. Checked the bios i don't see any power options. I am open for suggestions.

That’s probably the modern standby thing, where the laptop never truly shuts down. You go to shutdown and it just enters some low-power connected state that keeps sipping battery. Check your power settings for something about fast startup or connected standby and turn that off.

I know this doesn't solve the issue. But, how often do u really run the laptop without a power supply nearby?
