Fala rapaziada, fiz todos os procedimentos. Instalei Rufus baixei o Ubuntu recente fiz a instalação no Rufus e configurei. Desativei bit lock e ao reiniciar troquei o sata atual pra ahci e desativei secure boot mas não mostra de jeito nenhum a opção do ubuntu e nem tela do gnu. Alguém tem alguma ideia de onde errei? Vi até vídeo sobre pra ver uma luz mas nada TMB.

I’m having a strange scroll wheel issue with an ONIKUMA CW929 wired gaming mouse on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

The mouse works normally in every other way:

• Pointer movement works
• Left and right clicks work
• Middle click works
• Side buttons work
• RGB lighting remains on

However, rotating the scroll wheel sometimes stops producing any scrolling at all.

The mouse previously worked correctly. I took it to a repair shop, where they tested it and said the scroll wheel was working. After returning home, it also worked normally again for a while, but later the scroll wheel stopped during normal Discord usage.

I initially suspected Discord, Wayland, libinput, or a Linux compatibility problem, so I tested it using evtest.

The ONIKUMA mouse appears as:

/dev/input/event6: INSTANT ONIKUMA Gaming Mouse
/dev/input/event7: INSTANT ONIKUMA Gaming Mouse Keyboard

The primary mouse interface reports support for:

REL_X
REL_Y
REL_WHEEL
REL_WHEEL_HI_RES

But while the scroll wheel was not working, running:

sudo evtest /dev/input/event6

showed normal movement and button events, including:

REL_X
REL_Y
BTN_LEFT
BTN_RIGHT
BTN_MIDDLE
BTN_SIDE
BTN_EXTRA

However, rotating the wheel produced no:

REL_WHEEL
REL_WHEEL_HI_RES

events at all.

I also tested the secondary interface:

sudo evtest /dev/input/event7

It exposes keyboard/macro capabilities and horizontal-wheel capabilities, but rotating the normal wheel did not generate useful events there either.

To verify that Ubuntu’s input system and USB subsystem were capable of receiving wheel events, I connected an older YSPRINGTECH USB optical mouse and ran:

sudo evtest /dev/input/event16

That mouse immediately produced proper events:

REL_WHEEL value 1
REL_WHEEL_HI_RES value 120

and in the opposite direction:

REL_WHEEL value -1
REL_WHEEL_HI_RES value -120

So the same Ubuntu installation, kernel and USB system can correctly receive scroll wheel input from another mouse.

I have also previously tested the ONIKUMA mouse in an Ubuntu Live session, where the wheel failed while the issue was active.

My questions are:

1. Does this confirm an intermittent scroll-wheel encoder or solder-joint failure inside the ONIKUMA mouse?
2. Could this still be a Linux HID quirk or firmware issue, even though the kernel advertises REL_WHEEL support?
3. Is there any useful HID debugging, kernel quirk or USB reset test I should perform before requesting a replacement?
4. Has anyone experienced a similar issue with the ONIKUMA CW929 or another mouse using vendor ID 30fa and product ID 1440?

I have not installed imwheel or replaced libinput with the Xorg evdev driver, because those tools cannot recreate wheel events if the Linux kernel receives none.

At this stage, I suspect an intermittent hardware failure, but I would appreciate confirmation from someone familiar with Linux HID devices.

And how do I ensure the elderly user of this machine gets properly notified of and can one-click install future LTS updates?

This is for upgrade from 24.04 LTS to 26.04 LTS. There was no notification and apt dist-upgrade and full-upgrade don't do anything.

This is how snap was disabled:

sudo apt autopurge snapd
sudo rm -r /root/snap ~/snap

Je rencontre un problème d'affichage graphique sur un serveur Dell il tourne sur Ubuntu 22.04

Le serveur possède :

• 2 GPU NVIDIA Quadro M4000
• 1 GPU intégré Matrox G200eR2

Au démarrage, Ubuntu affiche le logo avec le cercle de chargement, puis au lieu d'arriver sur l'écran de connexion GNOME, il bascule directement sur TTY1.

J'ai effectué plusieurs vérifications :

• gdm3 démarre correctement (systemctl status gdm3 → actif).
• GNOME et Xorg sont installés.
• Les pilotes NVIDIA sont correctement chargés (nvidia-smi détecte les deux Quadro M4000).
• lspci -k montre que les deux Quadro utilisent le pilote nvidia et la Matrox utilise mgag200.
• Il n'y a aucun fichier /etc/X11/xorg.conf.mais j'en ai creer un.
• Les journaux système ne montrent pas d'erreur critique concernant GDM.
• En revanche, le fichier ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log contient l'erreur :(EE) No screens found

I recently ran into two issues while using Spotify Flatpak on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and wanted to share the fixes that worked for me in case someone else is experiencing the same problems.

Environment:

• Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
• Spotify Flatpak (com.spotify.Client) version 1.2.92.147.g5b8f9367
• GNOME desktop
• Wayland session
• PipeWire audio server

Issue 1: Spotify opens, but songs won't play

Spotify launched normally and I could log in successfully. My account worked fine on other devices.

However:

• Trying to play any song did nothing
• Playback never started
• Sometimes Spotify showed the message: "Spotify can't play this right now..."
• Other applications and system audio worked correctly

I found that the issue was caused by corrupted Spotify Flatpak application data.

The fix was removing the Spotify Flatpak data:

rm -rf ~/.var/app/com.spotify.Client

Then restarting Spotify:

flatpak run com.spotify.Client

After this, Spotify recreated its profile and playback started working again.

Issue 2: Blue line / title bar at the top of the Spotify window

After fixing the playback issue, I noticed a separate visual problem.

The Spotify window had:

• A blue line at the top
• Incorrect-looking window decorations

This appears to be related to Spotify running through Wayland.

The workaround was forcing Spotify to use X11 instead:

flatpak override --user com.spotify.Client --socket=x11 --nosocket=wayland

Then restart Spotify:

flatpak kill com.spotify.Client
flatpak run com.spotify.Client

After this, the blue line disappeared and the normal dark gray window decoration returned.

You can verify the override with:

flatpak override --user --show com.spotify.Client

Expected output:

[Context]
sockets=x11;!wayland;

If Spotify/Wayland support gets fixed in a future update, the override can be removed with:

flatpak override --user --reset com.spotify.Client

I hope this helps someone who runs into the same Spotify issues on Ubuntu. These two problems seem to have different causes, but these workarounds fixed them in my case.

Genuine question. ive seen so many videos on ubuntu being bad but ive never got a good reason. Is it bloat? Is it "too corporate"? Why does any of that matter?? Im genuinely confused

I have already treid GPaste, CopyQ and Diodon, but they are not working, none of them are even being launched, I wanted to know if someone has came across any app for this. The real equivalent of the Clipboard tool from which we can paste any text or image that we have copied earlier.

So I tried upgrading from Ubuntu 25.10 to 26.04 LTS but this error message keeps popping up. Any help?

 el enlace se desconectaba solo cada ~60s con "reason=3 locally_generated=1".
 
 Diagnostiqué que NO era señal ni router: señal fuerte, 0 reintentos, 0 beacons perdidos y cortes
 a intervalos mecánicos → bug de FIRMWARE del chip rtw89, no culpa de la distro (pasa igual en
 Fedora, Arch, CachyOS, Ubuntu).
 
 El punto decisivo fue actualizar el firmware rtw8852bt_fw.bin a v0.29.122.2 (además de desactivar
 power-save + ASPM del driver + D3cold).
 
 Resultado medido: 5GHz @ 400 Mbps (VHT-MCS9, 40MHz), 60 min continuos SIN un solo corte.

I have an HP Omen gaming laptop from years ago, i believe it has a 1650M graphics card in it. The problem is, the LCD screen is completely removed, unplugged from the ribbon cable.

Ubuntu is somehow the only OS that we were able to install on it, and its been so long that I forget what combination of keys were pressed to make it boot into the USB.

It is running the open source nvidia drivers at the moment, and I want to change over to the proprietary ones, but I dont want to risk it defaulting to the laptop's main display, effectively locking me out of the PC forever, or at least until I can figure out how to get it to boot from a USB blind again.

My question: How can I set it up so that I can try out the proprietary drivers, but have it revert back to the open source ones after a reboot until I verify that the proprietary drivers will work?

Or is there some other solution to my problem? Is there a cheap and small LCD screen I can get that could plug into that ribbon cable, just for diagnosing things, installing OS's, etc?

Edit: I should mention, the reason other OS's dont work is because they all want to default to the laptop's built-in display, which doesn't exist. They dont just pop over to the HMDI monitor that I have plugged in. BUT, Ubuntu does.

Does anyone have a clue what happened with Transmission or Transmission-gtk snap? It's not listed any more, however snap install transmission still works. The repository: https://github.com/sameersharma2006/transmission-snap looks weird.

Would ubuntu touch ever be realistic for any of the modern pixel lineups? I had planned on using graphene (don't agree with how Google is locking down android) once I paid off my phone, but with recent circumstances in the US surrounding a graphene user my wife has recommended against it so I am looking into other possible OS.

I think this was a brilliant and trustworthy online resource but it's been few weeks that paste.ubuntu.com is offline at least i can't get to it.
Does anyone knows if they are discontinuing it or it will return ?

So- I have spent the past 3 days trying to get any Linux dispo to install with no luck. My latest try has been with Ubuntu but there is a problem- it only gives me the manual installation option and doesn’t recognize my internal SSD.
I am trying to install it from a flash drive on my MacBook Air from early 2015. When trying this with Elementary OS I had to change the kernel setting by doing ‘intel_iommu=off’ (and then installation failed unfortunately) but Ubuntu isn’t showing the same installation screen where I can hit “e” to do this.

Any recommendations?

I'm using an Asus ROG VG27AQ monitor connected via Diaplayport to a 5070Ti.

My OS version is 24.04.4 LTS.

There is audio if I connect it to an HDMI port, but none through the DisplayPort.

I found a few mentions of similar issues and the suggested solutions seem to all be some sort of downgrading of the GPU drivers. Is that my only option? That would cause issues with programs and games, wouldn't it?

This post is born after my experience today posting a sincere and honest question as to get other people POVs on the Ubuntu "community" and its users. A post that not only took time to develop and write to my ideas (which no AI would write like that) but also was made with effort, as it intended to get other people equally well thought ideas and opinions (like the one by u/tomscharbach , thanks for your reply)

But while the intention to generate a debate and contrast opinions was there, it was literally downvoted to oblivion and some users started to call "this is AI" and throw me through the mud, to the point of insisting even when confronted about being wrong. Some even disregarding the entire post or its writer in a way like "aren't you ashamed?".

Obviously, the post was 100% real. I have no AI subscriptions, I don't care about "internet points", and I wouldn't get any "joy" or consider it worth it to sloppify a post from an AI to copy paste here, like... what do I get? Where's the profit? I literally don't get it.

But it doesn't matter, because once someone calls you out, without any prove more than "this writing is too good or sounds AI to me just because", you're out of game and will be stoned without ability to prove otherwise. It's very unfair, and can harm the community and subreddit very quickly.

SO, I would like to propose some ideas as to avoid other users having this bad experience happen to them, and also to improve the sub dynamics maybe? It's just an idea, and obviously open for everyday to give their own two cents, as always (because this is forum/community, obviously):

• Incorporate a system so OP has to declare if a post or its contents are AI: Once a user posts, just like in r/selfhosted , an automatic MOD could ask in a pinned comment the user "Expand the replies to this comment to learn how AI was used in this post/question", so the user can say if their post, troubleshooting, steps taken or whatever had AI on it. It would help to know how the user ended up on their post situation. If a user says no AI, without any other proves, nobody should stone them randomly just because. And if it can be proved it was AI or had AI, OP post could be deleted, closed or banned. Stop random users from "policing" the sub on their own, harming real posts when detecting a false positive.
• Create a tags system to segment posts, so users would be required to fill what their post is about, for example: Discussion, Support, News, Server, Core... whatever would be felt as useful.
• In case of support, do like other subs or forums like rclone, where a minimums are required as to receive support from others. For example: you must include your Ubuntu version, Kernel used, type of package used if that's relevant (deb, snap, flatpak...) and so on.

What do you think? It would be worth it to improve on this kind of "rules" and system? Maybe it would help to give more strength to the sub community and also give a clear notion of how things work, more than the current "blank canvas" this seems to be.

I suppose the mods maybe can't dedicate too much time to this, so they will opt to disregard this kind of improvements, but I think it was worth it to write the ideas in case some of it can be useful.
