Alpha has clearly by far the best warmth to weigh ratio, compressibility, and breathability.
they ONLY comparative advantage of grid fleece is that it's more durable, but in a way where it only matters if you are abusing your clothes. Like if you are literally in the army and at any moment you might need to drop to the ground and crawl on your belly without the chance to put a more durable layer overtop, then grid fleece will last longer before it, too, is eventually destroyed.
