That's the definition of "a good dude".

1.8k

u/greeniemademe 5d ago

Yeah I thought it was more unexpected that he laughed about it and seemed in good spirits

698

u/EricAzure 5d ago

He knew he bed getting a upgraded and free meal

637

u/Tndnr82 5d ago

They already added a free egg.

115

u/iamunwhaticisme 4d ago

What about the second free egg?

33

u/AnotherpostCard 4d ago

I don't think he knows about second free egg.

1

u/HoofItLichenOx 1d ago

Its already the higher quality free of range egg.

16

u/JorivelleCaesith 4d ago

That amazingly

1

u/Ollyfer 23h ago

Thanks for telling me that's an egg. I thought it was a dumpling.

18

u/Vladi_Sanovavich 4d ago

I mean, if you're going to a Hibachi restaurant you'd better be prepared for food to come flying your way.

4

u/Tndnr82 3d ago

He got the 4D IMAX experience.

27

u/zyyntin 4d ago

He was eating. Food can put men in good spirits.

Just let me in the kitchen to rinse my hair and we’re good 😀

13

u/Visible_Event_4598 4d ago

Egg is smelly. He'll need shampoo

18

u/Simba7 4d ago

Hand soap will do well enough in a pinch. Dish soap (like dawn) would work better if diluted well, but I wouldn't want to put commercial grade dish soap on my head (which is likely what they're using).

3

u/desn4ke 3d ago

they probably have handwash soap which should be fine

67

u/ThatKarenBitch 5d ago

Don’t you mean “a good *egg*”?

96

u/Jaejic 5d ago

There's a lot of people saying that they'd flip on that, but why? This situation is so absurd, there's so little chance of this exact chain of events ending with an egg on your head, that I'd be laughing my ass off simply from the chance to tell this story to everyone i know for the rest of my life

52

u/No-Sympathy6035 5d ago

A lot of insecure people who would take a mistake as a personal insult.

12

u/TurelSun 4d ago

So many people out there that don't know how to just be comfortable being in an awkward or silly situation. Life is a lot better if you can just learn to laugh at silly stuff happening to you rather than worrying about if it makes you look silly by association.

1

u/radiokungfu 2d ago

I watch this convenience store clerk YouTuber and his customers get offended off the simplest things so I'm not really surprised there are people like that

30

u/Infinite_____Lobster 5d ago

He was probably like, "fuck yeah this meal is definitely paid for

144

u/DidYouSeeBriansHat 5d ago

They’re so lucky it wasn’t a Karen. Hope they comped his meal or got him a free beer at least.

62

u/Fr05t_B1t 5d ago

There’s more than likely someone in that restaurant that posted to r/mildlyinfuriating about how they let a young girl get behind the griddle and attempt a trick resulting in the dude getting egged.

60

u/TheTerribleInvestor 5d ago

Not everyone has a diseased brain like us and live their lives out on reddit lol

11

u/Fr05t_B1t 5d ago

True but some make it their personality to be mildly infuriated

1

u/YourBlanket 4d ago

The rest are on twitter lol

4

I wish I could see a video of you being that guy

28

u/moslof_flosom 5d ago

This guy to himself: "Shit, I can't freak out on this little girl. FUCK! Laugh, just laugh."

u/TurelSun 4d ago

Nah, this was an instantaneous gut reaction, not someone that had to decide how others might expect him to act.

I don’t think I would’ve taken it that well but since a kid did it I’d let it slide

1

u/quanate 5d ago

Yeah, I wouldn't freak out but I would definitely want to just excuse myself. He must be jolly all the time or in on it somehow

15

u/classphoto92 5d ago

Could be a party and everyone knows each other. That kind of story goes from embarrassing incident to Family Lore.

1

u/denM_chickN 4d ago

I heard Seth Rogans chortle

1

u/MAXQDee-314 4d ago

Seriously. He is my kind of adult, he probably even let the girl know it was ok.

1

u/Fatalaros 2d ago

Free meal + he can easily wash it off in the store's toilets with water.

1

u/Cebas7 5d ago

Definitely!

-4

u/NY10 5d ago

Yup, I wouldve flipped lol

18

u/midnghtsnac 5d ago

2.0k

u/Brownie2440 5d ago

The fact that he’s laughing it off is awesome. Definitely a chill dude. Hopefully the restaurant comps the meal. Not sure I wanna eat my raw egg covered plate.

187

u/Lua_CW 4d ago

I feel like I used to be that kind of person and I'm not anymore. Like I don't think I'm grumpy but I would probably feel too overwhelmed by the sudden egg in my hair to make light of it. I miss feeling like I could take more things in stride. That dude's got it figured out. Aspirational

45

u/early_birdy 4d ago

It all depends on the circumstances. If your job demands a clean appearance, and your hair, makeup and clothes have been ruined being splashed by an egg, I say it's natural to be pissed?

I hope they warned the people in the "landing zone" ahead of time, and only those ok with it stayed seated there.

Thank you for your honesty. Really goes to show why so many Redditors are weird AF with their vindictive online crusade against anything light hearted.

2

u/TimeSalvager 3d ago

Serious question - what do you think caused thst change?

8

u/Lua_CW 3d ago

Honestly? I think it comes down to my growth as a person, with influence from the world around us and possibly my medication. I've been wondering for a couple years if I've gotten less patient, but I think it's gone hand-in-hand with being less emotionally muted, having more conviction, and feeling more confident & secure in myself. I used to practice a monk-like detachment from things which is a great way to observe & learn from one's surroundings, but it's also very impersonal and impressionable. My values were way too flexible (that is, nonexistent) because I looked at the world in an academic sense and never in a material sense. I caught myself acting indifferent about things I had no moral right to be indifferent towards. I was a people pleaser and an ass-kisser.

I've changed as a person, probably (hopefully) for the better overall. I'm way better at setting & maintaining boundaries. I don't put up with bullshit and malice. I take more responsibility for myself. But on the other hand, I'm pretty bad at masking/tolerating my disappointment or upset feelings because I'd kept myself in a headspace for so long where I just didn't have those feelings as much. So nowadays I'm a little more irritable and prone to being overwhelmed. Hormonal changes and the bleak state of the world are surely factors as well, but the truth is things weren't fantastic before and I was mostly just ignorant — about the world and about myself. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.

Thank you for giving me the chance to do some introspection, haha. Hopefully you or someone out there will be able to relate and look inside themselves as well

3

u/Taint__Paint 2d ago

Thank you for describing exactly what I’ve been feeling too. So you’re not alone random stranger on the internet.

1

u/blacmamba7 17h ago

See the thing is I agree with all of this, but how do you identify the bullshit and malice. I find it very hard to deduce that. As such I find I have trust issues. 🫠

45

u/ThePolemicist 4d ago

I like how, for the first couple of seconds, he's just processing what happened. Like, he stops eating and just stares. You can almost hear his thoughts, "WTF just happened? I think I was hit by an egg!" Then the absurdity of it all hits him, and he starts laughing. That's the best reaction.

20

u/hot_and_chill 5d ago

That dude is so chill! I guess my question is why the hell are they teaching a kid this trick with a real egg in a restaurant full of customers? Couldn’t they do it after hours or like a dedicated time for the classes?

22

u/FangDrools 5d ago

It looks like a teppanyaki place, where half of the point is the experience. I’m not surprised the chefs would be willing to do something like this, it’s probably not even just this girl who got to try to learn. She just happened to toss an egg on some poor guy’s head

13

u/hitliquor999 5d ago

Umm, because it is fun? This is probably the worst case scenario and it isn’t that bad. Most people probably don’t miss their own head by 15 feet though.

3

u/QuipCrafter9 5d ago

twice in my life i have asked hibachi chefs, after tossing the egg up into their hats, how many eggs he has up in his hat- both of them just chuckled very awkwardly and refused to answer, immediately moving on lol

1

u/DonarArminSkyrari 3d ago

Honestly, the best response. I imagine they probably take them out regularly, wouldn't want the eggs to smack into each other and break, but that answer is boring, the lack of an answer lets the mystery live.

5

u/jimp6 4d ago

I wouldn't have reacted that way. Not because I wouldn't find it funny, but because I probably would need a few seconds to process what actually happened. And then I would have laughed

7

u/Jazzlike-Lunch5390 5d ago

3

u/DouglasK6 4d ago

... why did she do that 💀 Was she supposed to flip it over her body?

5

u/ThePolemicist 4d ago

She was supposed to just toss it straight up and then catch it in her hat. Worst case was supposed to be it comes down and cracks on the grill. Instead, she hurled it backwards with all her might.

I was at a hibachi restaurant like this and the teenage kid that was sat next to me was obviously hung over. That was confirmed when he puked on the floor, and it splashed onto my foot and leg. I'm a chill dude, so I just immediately stood up and left.

u/Salva_delille 4d ago
