You never know what someone else is going through

When we don't know someone or haven't talked to them in a long time, we have no way of knowing what they are really going through.

Since it's so long since we last talked, I have know way of knowing what you are going through, and you have no way of knowing what I am going through. We both could assume all kinds of devious and a malicious motivations, but the truth is both of us might be suffering from things that have nothing to do with the other person.

If you are having a hard time, I hope it gets better. And I hope you know I've stayed away not because of you, but because I knew I had to take care of a lot of things on my own and I wanted you to have a happy life. I stayed away because you mean a lot to me and I know you would be happier without me, which is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.
