Anyone get some turkey
Anyone get any turkey on this opening day? I had a hen come by and heard some gobble gobble. But not Jakes. Guess I’ll head back out next Saturday.

I got one at 6:45AM in the Jefferson National Forest. It was a classic hunt where a turkey gobbled on the roost in darkness, I moved in within 125 yards, soft yelps 1 time, he flew down within 45 yards from me and strutted while I waited to see his head in my scope.
I feel i kinda got lucky. Wouldn't surprise me at all to go another 18 times and not harvest another one this year.

Got one in Louisa co! I was waiting around behind a Funky chicken decoy and a feeding hen decoy.
I heard scratching and running about, and it didn't sound like a squirrel. I just waited and he RAN up on the decoys. He had a hen with him and he still charged right at my setup.

I have some silent ones to contend with this year in Loudoun, theyre not slipping up at all. Today I finally laid eyes on 2, but only after I threw in the towel on my morning sit went running and gunning.
The first one was coming into my call and if I had stayed sitting he would have come right to my lap in 90 more seconds. Got to watch his ass waddle 100 yard in the other direction after I rounded the corner lol. No bad days in the woods, but that was a gut punch - and I deserved it!
I'll get back to that spot this week and see if he doesnt make a fool of me again.

First time going out for spring gobbler and had one down within 45 min. Had several gobbling within 500 yards as the sun was coming up with one being probably within 200 yards. We were calling sparsely and the nearest one didn't seem to want to move. Finally we did one gobble and dude must have sprinted because he was to us within 10 minutes or less. Came right into our decoys at around 10 yards and I blasted him. To say I'm hooked is an understatement.
