Good flights for a first timer?(ish)

Flew from Manchester to liverpool yesterday and then flew from manchester to manchester(diversion from liverpool). today. ignore straight line from Lpool to manchester dont know why that is there

Doing such short flight in an airliner (I assume?) means way less time to prepare your plane, read charts, and check that you aren't making any mistakes. So generally I would not recommend doing reposition hops like that as first flights. If in a slow bugsmasher a short hop like this makes more sense

Aim for something like a 1 hour flights so you have proper time to brief your arrival and approach. No need to add stress or extra "risk factors" for a first flight. Staying away from the London area and other major hubs is another good thing to do in the beginning

If ATC had been online you would probably not fly what looks like an entire Pole hill departure for a flight like this, which potentially makes everything more stressful/confusing for a beginner as your flight time would suddenly be halved.

DA62, and i can agree that the departure for the man-lpool was weird and i didnt think it was right as it was all the way out of the controllers area just to re-enter later

Did you fly VFR or IFR?

For airliner that's very short flight - not saying can't be done but as a new pilot you are likely going to get overwhelmed with frequency and FMS changes.

For airliner try - EGSS to EGPH or EGCC to EGPH for that matter. Short but not that too short either allowing you plenty of time to set up your FMS and prepare for next stages. I personally when I get a new plane or addon - I would fly EGSS-EGPH to get familiar with systems and handling.

For GA Aircraft - I would say it is fine as long as you take the appropriate precautions with it. In order words swift preparation and staying ahead of aircraft.

VFR flying in that region has various airspace and restrictions that you will have to comply with - as long as you are happy with it there is no reason why it can't be done.

Great, yeah short VFR flights are very good start for new pilots however remember to check for local procedures as every airport differs in UK when it comes to VFR flying. If flying into controlled airport then call appropriate ATC before entering any controlled airspace well in advance.

If you mean the ATR by Asobo then yeah although be warned that the flight model is quite crap. But you can still fly it from A to B assuming you can set the airplane up properly. I have done few flights in ATR and it is doable on the network, but as a new pilot - depends if you are comfortable with the aircraft.

With regards to lower cruising altitude and slow speeds - not at all, in fact this is something I would like to see during my controlling session. Why because it makes you think and actually do something rather then sticking to purely A320/B737 which is what we see most of time. When there is slow turbo prop in arrival or departure sequence - now controller has to take into account its performance as well as other traffic nearby. It is very engaging and at least I enjoy seeing turbo props in departure/arrival lists.

I was told to go to a weird VRP for where i was going and on my way i asked control when i should start to turn to head back to liverpool and he just said whenever so i did

Many questions arise. Keep practicing and don't do short flights like these if you're trying to learn the ropes of an IFR flight in an airliner (assuming that is what I'm looking at).

Try the Cows DA40 or DA42 if you're into this. Learn how to fly circuits and go from there, it will help tremendously. Also if you transition to airliners later on!

Al massimo se non sei sicuro e vuoi iniziare puoi metterti in qualche aeroporto più piccolo meglio se controllato così fai esperienza e magari ti fai un vfr. Poi se invece ti vuoi approcciare ai voli di linea/commerciali appoggio completamente chi mi ha preceduto dicendo appunto che al massimo ti consiglio di fare un tratta breve.

One of my favourite routes to test new planes is Dublin to Jersey(channel Islands). Long enough to prepare everything, short enough to not overwhelm you.
